Gamers in China are facing new limits on how much time they can spend playing their favourite online game. The government in Beijing is reported to be introducing the controls to deter people from playing for longer than three consecutive hours.
The measures are designed to combat addiction to online role-playing games such as World of Warcraft and Lineage II.
More than 20 million Chinese play games regularly, mainly in net cafes.

Good move I think, It will also cut down on online bots.

The government has no right to dictate what you do on the internet, and never should do...

I reckon its a good idea :)Yeah well that's 1 person out of 1.3 billion in China, the ratio is miniature at the moment and doesn't even need addressing too. If it was more people dieing then I'd see the point, but I currently don't, I think a guideline would be far more appropriate than a law... Not to mention the horrendously corrupt Chinese government has better things to sort out :S
i agree with jordy. no need for the law as its such an un useful law.they should focus more on other laws that they should sort out before this. 1 person out of a billion

This is good I say. As somebody said, one man died in China from an online game dispute... And 3 hours is enough wouldn't you say?

So the government shouldn't be able to stop pedophiles looking at child porn then?

Good move. I think its in the interest of the economy as a whole. If the teenagers etc play too much that means they don't study / spend enough :).

This is typical of Socialists/Communists who want the state to control everyones lives, just like when the Chinese Government banned Habbo Hotel.

Why do you whine about everything?
Before this comes into place your average Chinese teenager will spend 4+hours per day in an internet café playing on-line games - If they limit them like they will be doing it will force them to spend more time not on computer games, gaining skills/working/school giving them better opportunities in life.

I am 50/50 with this, it just annoys me when socialists try and control peoples lives like with what happened with the Soviet Union.

I think you mean dictatorial communists - just one incarnation of the ideology.

So the government shouldn't be able to stop pedophiles looking at child porn then? :rolleyes:I think you should understand that looking at child pornography is entirely differently to playing an online game for over 3 hours. You don't have to be a genius to know that...

Including Labour and the EU.
So you're referring to Old Labour rather than New? I think you'll find the latter has been seen to have compromised many of its traditional socialist (NOT - THE - SAME - AS - COMMUNISM) principles and adopt various more centre ground policies.
And by the EU you're also referring to the right-wing governments of member states Germany, France, Poland, Sweden and Italy?

No I am reffering to the EU as in the body, not the members. All the socialists such as Ken Livingstone and Peter Mandelson go there when they are found out to be cheating liers, just like Blair is tipped to join the EU. Labour have been called the Nanny State with banning various words so I am referring to Labour and the EU as socialist controllers.
Socialism is bascially communism.

The actual body exists as a congregation of member states, so it's a little tricky to refer to the body and ignore those states.
Communism is extreme socialism. That's like calling Conservative-supporting right-wingers fascists.
I think you'll find Ken Livingstone is the Mayor of London: a position very much located within the UK.
"When they are found out to be cheating liars". You referred to Blair. I presume you're referring to the belief that he lied about possible weapons of mass destruction in order to invade Iraq (just going with the standard grievance against him)? He did in fact win another general election two years after that invasion before resigning on his own terms. That doesn't appear to me as fleeing to Europe in disgrace.
I don't remember hearing of any words being banned under Labour. Maybe the Government is slightly sensitive when it comes to racial degradation and the incitement of discrimination, but I hardly consider that a bad thing.

You have hit the nail on the head, is we were to put it in basic terms the Conservatives are Capitalists and Labour/EU are Communist/Socialist. I don't know whether you watched the program on Ken Livingstone the other day but he is a very left wing Socialist and when he's finished as Mayor he'll probably do what all of Labour do - Join the EU just like dear Peter and Tony have/are doing.
He may of won the Election but personally I don't support the Union at the present time and Labour only got in because of Scotland and Wales leaving England with a Government they totally rejected. Howard actually got more votes than Blair yet lost in our so called democracy.
Tony Blair may of won the election but that's because of Scotland's socialist background which means they will only vote the SNP/Labour he and his party were still extremly unpopular.
Blackboard and all this PC crap, yeah we're in BRITAIN so my personal opinion is that if anyone who came here doesn't like certain words, they can leave.
