Im reading all different threads that have to do with chavs, emos, goths and preps. I know the stereotypical Emo & goth. But what is a chav and prep. Now dont go calling me stupid and am i living in a hole?, no lol. But I do live in australia and i might know the stereotype but might call it a different thing. Here, we have lads and lass's. The stereotypical lad or lass dresses in polo shirts, nautica wear, TN's. They are rude, Disrepectful & like destroying society for no reason whatsoever. They listen to trance, gabba, hardstyle music. Society hates them because of their rude ways. Is a lad, a chav?
So what, in your opinion, is a chav or a prep?

And if you like, Are you one of these stereotypes?

Chav means "Council housed and violent". So if you live in a council house and your violent I guess you fit the description! :P

A Prep is more of an American term - I for one have never heard it over here. It is basically a rich kid. They like sports such as Fencing, Polo, Squash, Tenis etc.

prep has morphed into different things. it's really just any type of expensive clothing. you can be a prep with ripped jeans, as long as they're from hollister or some store that'll sell them for more than 60 dollars.

Most of them live in council houses, and they will "bang" any one who dosn't like them, or what there doing.

If anything, I prefer chavs to a lot of 'Emos & Goths'. Emos and Goths are depressive. Their ignorant and half of 'em are so far up their own... At least, ones I see are.

"prep" is more of an american term. its basically anyone who wears expensive clothes on a regular basis, it's not much of a personality anymore (although there are lots of stereotypes with it). chav is used next to never here in the u.s. so i cant give a good definition.

Being antisocial doesn't mean liking old farts, it just means being civil to people. It's not difficult, but people the the UK can't seem to get the hang of it. I didn't say anything about the stuff you said underneath, so I'm not sure who that was aimed at.

"Preps" and "preppys" isn't a term used in the UK, but yeah it is American like "emo". Prep means today though what it originally did, unlike emo, which means today something completely different than what it originated as.

Jocks is another American "stereotype term". Meaning muscular guys with short haircuts who play American football.
