For your gcse shakespeare are you doing othello? If not which one are you doing? :]

I reckon most are doing romeo & juliet...

Othello (the play not the actual chracater) is so racist lol

I just finished mine for AS on Othello :)

Oh, and about Othello being a racist play, it would be to a modern reader, but when the play was writen, it would of been perfectly acceptable.

Othello isn't racist, Shakespeare writes it in favour of blacks. The Elizabethan society which the Venetian culture reflects is racist.

I think he is reffering to racist characters - but yes I agree, the way Shakespeare portrays Othello's demise creates pity for the character.

the question was something along the lines of "How does each of the characters being in the story add to the drama"

I'm doing The Tempest for SATs and it's got a decent story line, I didn't like A midsummer's night dream at all and Macbeth is rather boring.
