Johnny Depp to replace Heath Ledger

Johnny Depp may take over Heath Ledger's role in fantasy film The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus.

Shooting on the Terry Gilliam-directed movie was put on hold when Ledger was found dead (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/a86947/heath-ledger-found-dead.html) in his Manhattan apartment on Tuesday.

According to The Sun, the project was less than two months from completion and Gilliam now wants to film the rest of it with Depp in the lead role.

A source said: "There is a point in the film when Heath falls through a magic mirror. He could change into another character after that and that is where Johnny would come in.

"It's a weird, fantasy, time-travel movie so Heath's character could easily change appearance. It would be a poignant moment. Johnny's not working at the moment so everyone is praying he will do it."

Why do half of you care that they're carrying on? The whole world isn't going to stop for one person dying, people die all the time. If I died, my college wouldn't stop for a few weeks; they carry on. It's not his film, he's just an actor, there's no reason the whole film should be put on pause.

I think using Johnny Depp in such a condition would be a mistake; they're both too famous for it to look right, people would question why suddenely Heath Ledger turns into Johnny Depp lol. If it's a weird comedy then it might be okay.
Although I think if they're going to use a replacement actor, they should film the entire thing. Also, why have they highlighted that there was "less than two months of filming"? It usually only takes 6 or 7 months to film something anyway. That's like a 1/3.

It's great how they're patching it up like that, but even better that they're carrying on with the production, keeping the Heath Ledger scenes as well. It shows that they really do care, and this has happened before to a Batman film if people recall. I think it was in fact the Batman himself who died, and they replaced him with a double but most of it was filmed as the passed actor.

It's great to see they're paying some respects to him in the way he would've loved: In his acting. RIP<3

Too famous to look right... please... Oh sorry, you can't be in this film you're too famous and will get us too much money. It's a mainstream film, why shouldn't they use someone famous? What actors aren't famous anyway.
