Production Shut Down +Rep

I have a question +rep for the answer.

What does it mean when a television show Shuts Down Production. Does this mean they have shut down and it's the end of the show or does it mean they have shut down and ended the season early?

they stop making the program or mabe they have just stopped making the series for a while. It could be used as a phrase to end a show but that's not what it really means..

It is probs like that atm due to the writers strike.

It was during the WGA strike, How I Met Your Mother said that they have shut down production and I wondered if that meant it was over or if it was just cutting the season short.

Maybe that will help with the definition lol.
