We do apollogize for this, neither of the people who had access (Catalia and myself) were actually editing/changing anything on the site when this happened. So I assume it must be a hosting problem, Catalia will contact them tomorrow when he's online if the problem continues.

Sorry for any inconvience.

It hasn't been hacked since myself and Catalia are both very secure and we're the only two with access. Therefore it must come down to an error occuring in our shared hosting. It should be correct later on tonight.

But thats not grammar, it's spelling. :P

GommeInc
31-01-2008, 03:58 PM
Which makes Andys look slightly less clever :D 'Cristal' (which is 'crystal'), is a spelling mistake, not a grammar problem and his spelling mistake, 'collage' should be 'college' :P

Anyway, it's probably a host problem. They seem to like crashing like that!

We're speaking to Hostgator at the moment, hoping it's something they've done wrong so they can correct it. Otherwise we may of lost everything we've been building for the past month :l

I'm guessing it's a hosting related problem as the Hostgator 404 error page comes up ;).

I think it may be server load issues, because when I launched MyBobba for the first hour or so we had about 60/70 people browsing the forum then all of a sudden the directory it was hosted in got disabled. Turns out Hostgator disable your directories causing server load without telling you in advance. So it could possibly be something like that.

If it was a bigger problem do u have any backups or anything?
or does hostgator have them

cause it whud take so long to get back up

Well I have images, css, php files and modifications we have used. However I don't have a database backup and vBulletin uses databases to store all style information. So that might kill us if Hostgator don't have one.

I'm hoping it's just a glitch and that Hostgator just need to switch our directory back on or something. As not even the cPanel can be accessed.

Yeah, defintely would suck if you lost all your files.

I'm sure Hostgator runs regular server backups, so there will be someway to get the information (such as dbs) if it's lost :)

I was trying to remember if they do. As I remember something like this happening with a host and all they could offer was Sunday backups. Which in this case would be a loss, as we had completed the dashboard which took ages since Monday.

Okay, an update has arrived. Basically whats happened is someone from Hostgator has "accidently" deleted our root. So they are looking into who done it and when, main thing is they never actually said if it was fixable... :l

Yeah I was saying to Jack, if they try to take money off us to provide us with backups then I will be asking for at the very least a full refund with the hosting account still active for us to use.

We back our website once a day, and database backups twice a day.

Some times the backups don't fully work :S

Whats there to backup? LOL

------

But ye, I hope you get the site backup. Hostgator will prolly refund you all the money and give you free hosting seeing as this could turn ugly for them if they have found that it was one of their employees that deleted the root directory. Sadly i don't think thats the case seeing as Hostgator doesn't allow any of their level 1,2, & 3 support staff access to any client servers. Only Administrators get access. Plus the fact that they don't snoop clients servers unless their server is overloaded, or hosting a virus or illegal software re portered. Therefor you could of been hacked. Make sure you change the password to the email address that was used for contact information and scan for key loggers. But then again there is the fact that you can't login to cpanel and you as the client can't do anything to the cpanel files.

Its a hard case but im leaning towards host gator staff error. Which ever way it goes keep us posted.

The report from Jack is;

"lol no"

Just found out that Jack is a moron :P He's been waiting for a Support Ticket reply but only checking his emails to see if there has been one, not the actual system. They replied to the support ticket hours ago :l However, they say they will do a system restore for $15. They can get to hell...

So Have you gotten the backup yet or are u still in a feud with HostGator?

Awfy
31-01-2008, 10:19 PM
Well, since we told them we weren't paying for something they did they haven't replied to our support tickets. So in other words if there is no money in it for them, we can wait.

Awfy
31-01-2008, 11:16 PM
Right, after a long wait and some awful support reps. We finally got in touch with Lucas who done a full restore for free. Thank god there are some decent people at Hostgator.

We are a little concerned though, as the password protected directory has went back to the old password we had a month ago. So we might of lost all the latest updates... :l

Hostgator has awful level 1,2,3 staff. They charge stupid money to have changes to your account. $10 dollars for a domain name change. Like ****. Really ive used cpanel root it takes 30 seconds tops.

Backup takes 5 minutes and if its their own fault then they must be screwed in the head to charge you money.

Awfy
01-02-2008, 12:04 AM
They restored the site wrong. We asked for a full site restore and all they did was restore the public_html. Which means we have no email accounts or databases. Hopefully this time they will at least get the databases back on.

Well, after much dispute with Hostgator staff it finally clicked in their small brains it was their fault and decided to give us a free restore. It restored back to yesterday :)

Blackcomb
01-02-2008, 12:54 AM

DUB
01-02-2008, 01:04 AM
lol of course they didn't, im not too fussed about it now that i have it back. But i don't think i will be using them as my host for much longer ;)
