Ok, in other threads which i read alot of people are asking questions and alot of people are replying with false information.

The following information is true, i have been researching about this film for about 3 months now as im that obsessed and found alot of information about this, also some useful websites which were "hidden".

First off:
Where did the monster come from?

The Monster in Cloverfield is a mutated whale which has grown so large due to the main ingrediant for the drink "Slusho". The main ingredient for this drink (which has also been documented in other creations of the directer such as lost) aparently turns a fish into a giant whale (Cloverfield (The Monster..)). Before this happened, The slusho company had been trying to market their new product and one of their satelites had fallen out of the sky right into an area near to the statue of liberty. At the start of the film, on the news in Rob's apartment, they mention briefly an oil driller (Which is actually a slusho deep-sea drill) being destroyed mysteriously. This deep-sea drill disturbed the whales sleep and it woke up and destroyed the driller and then went to manhatten.

Cleverly, the director of the film has created several "false websites" which in-directly link to Cloverfield the film, here are the ones i found, i can't remember the rest as i only discovered them all in a science lesson and my school doesn't allow me to have favourites added -.-...

http://www.slusho.jp/ - The slusho website - This holds the information of the actuall drink itself, whats in it (this is hereby refered to as "Seabed nectar" on the website) and other information like the distribution company. There is also a fake e-mail which if you e-mail it (as my friend did) you get a reply saying something along the lines of "Thank you for showing interest in this product" etc.

http://www.tagruato.jp/ - The Distribution company website - Me and my friend discovered this and dug deeper in this website and found that you can see where all the deep sea drills are, notice how the new-york one is missing.

http://www.1-18-08.com/ - The actual cloverfield website, these pictures show that the whale is dead? yes or no? very misleading however some say this is just a plot to confuse us even more. Sometimes if you "shake" the pictures (Grab hold of and move around) they flip over and reveal secret messages..

Unfortunatly i couldn't remember the other ones i found, i found some with hidden parts of the film, like a false news report on the deep-sea drill being destroyed. - an actual film of it.

The only other thing i can think to add here is:
"Is there a sequal?"

It has been 100% confirmed there is a sequal, and you can bet that it will be bigger and better thanks to hollywood taking an active interest in the film. The directer has confirmed that there will be another film which portrays the nights events from a different camera being filmed in a different area.

Me and my friend watched the film very closely for this and found that just before robs brother dies, before he recieves a call from beth, there is a man filming on the bridge and hud accidently films him filming where the monster appears from by accident, We came to the conclusion this will be included in the second film somewhere.

The directer has said that there will be either 1 whole group again in the second film, or alot of smaller stories found from "various cameras" by the u.s government.

I hope this thread cleared up any confusion you may have, and i hope it didnt confuse you anymore, feel free to ask any questions ill try to answer any.

So the second one might be based on another person filming it?

No it wouldn't....
because.......

If there is another movie anyway its gonna have the monster in it so I don't see how it will be a repeat if we're seeing it through another persons view, different charactors and a different film objective.

Yes, you can almost gurantee it will be the man on the bridge, i am not saying its 100% because i cant remember where i found the information so technically i have no proof, but it is :)
