Just wondered this really. I want one, but I'm only 16 and I wouldn't be able to get away with being 18. Gave it some thought though - I want like a tribal design across the top of my back. Anyone else got views?

Sorry if this is wrong place to post :)

I wouldn't get a tribal one or any stars, if you get one get a tattoo that means something, not a design where your following a fad.

I'd get one, and I'm 18 in july so hopefully I'll be able to get one this year. I just don't know what I want yet besides a few rough ideas.

A kind of tasteful tribal one seems quite appealing. Only down side is you're pretty much guaranteed to regret it at some point in your life.

Yeah, you'd probs be able to get one done in some dodgey place
Tribals are so unorginal, like most tattoos..

Don't really want a tattoo, if I did get one i'd design it myself..

The only think that means alot to me is my family, but I hate any sort of writing tattoos. And it may be unorginial, but I like it :)

if you do go about designing your own, I would suggest that you design it and leave it 6months to a year, if you still like it then get it done.

You don't want a tattoo that you go off within a year, Sure you can remove them but it'll leave a scar.

Also I believe you can get 6 year tattoos (as in tat's which fade out after 6 years)? something that my brother was telling me about.

Yeah I will wait a while incase I do change my mind. Im going to wait at least until the end of this year. I would like to design my own, but I'm not great at those sorta things.

Maybe you could just draw some rough designs and I'm sure if you go to a tattoo place they will sketch you a decent design from your drawings.

Personally I don't think I will ever get a tattoo. Sure they look cool for maybe the first 5-10 years on your body but I'm pretty sure with anything like this there will be some point in your life when you'll think "Damn it, I wish I hadn't done that" and getting a tattoo may very well be one of them. Aside from that I've always thought they've looked quite ugly and unnecessary, despite the fact the way they maybe end up looking when you get older depending on how your body changes and as far as I know, getting one removed is a expensive and painful process.

no i wouldnt, i dont see the need for them really.

my mate has quite a few though, but i doubt he will enjoy having a skull with a snake going round it and an eagle with a star inside it when he's 80.

Yeah, which is why I would have it somewhere it can easily be hidden :)

The only one I've ever been slightly tempted to get is one of a blackbird in the style of this (http://www.absolutepunk.net/gallery/files/2/5/4/4/5/AlterBridge-Blackbird.JPG).

I love tattoos.

Both my Dad and Brother have tribals and chinese but that isnt my style.

I think i will have quite a few in life.

At stages of my life that mean something to me. I will have pictures rather than words although i do want 2 words on ths inside of my wrists. No sure hat yet though.

I know for certain i will have a ying yang somewhere and a couple of spiritual pictures.

And whoever had the bird idea, i love it!:)

I don't really see the point in them apart from the trend...

For alot of people it is art.

For others it is a way to express themsleves.

Many people inturpret them in different ways.....

I guess tattoos depend on the skin tone etc..
On younger people, they look ok, but on older people they don't look very nice.

I sort of want something on my wrist.
It seems like a sorta girly place to put it but I think that they look nice and it's somewhere where people can see but also somewhere that's easily hidden

Of what?

Leicester city badge with forever underneath.

EDIT: my brother also has the same tattoo as Rooney on his leg, and that was before Rooney got his.
