So there's been a big question littering the air since it was announced that the trailers us the 360 engine. Is the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV worser?

I had a look around and apparently only one source has had access to it.

- The PS3's version seems to be exactly the same visually as it's 360 counterpart
- The frame rate on the ps3 version is extremely smooth
- Niko's clothes get bloodier after you take more and more damage
- You can ring 911 to get the police, ambulance or fire brigade
to create a diversion or simply steal their car and anything else you can foster up
- When you fail a mission, you receive a text message asking whether you want to replay the mission, even a 'skip trip' feature is included
- Multiplayer will be accessed from the phone
- The phone can also be used for messageing, photos, reminders and music.
- R1 will be the 'into cover' button for the ps3, many variations of getting into cover apply
- You can dangle from Helicopters, just like vans and trucks
- When your about to die it fades into black and white, just like in gears of war and uncharted.
- Ne-Yo and R Kelly were heard on the radio
- 18 radio stations available
- Niko is able to ask the cab driver to change the radio station
- Niko pays the cabbie double (which adds up to $39) to speed up
- Bums on the street ask for money, you have the ability to give them money
- Niko raises his arms when cops try to 'bust him' out of say a car, but he can move freely and can run or retaliate

The preview was based on the PlayStation 3 version of the game. This is the first time (as far as I am aware) that the PS3 version has been previewed by the gaming press.

- The faster you tap X, the faster Niko runs. He doesn't appear to get tired.
- Major collisions on motorbikes cause the helmet to fall off. You can see it fall onto the ground.
- Heavy fire will scar - and permanently destroy - parts of the environment.
- They previewed a mission called "To Live and Die in Alderney," which is the second part of "Truck Hustle." The second mission is called "Jamaican Heat," and acts as a tutorial for the new cover/targeting system. The third mission is called "Jacob's Ladder," and the fourth (and final) mission is called "Harbouring a Grudge." This mission introduces an Irish character called Patrick McReary, who is related to Francis.
- The mobile phone can be used to call the police, the paramedics, and the fire department.
- There are 18 radio stations in GTA IV - one of which is Russian. All of these stations can be accessed via the mobile phone.
- You can take photos with the mobile phone and upload them to the police computer.
- Health is represented by a green semi-circle on the left side of the radar, and a right semi-circle represents armour. You can restore health by resting, by using medical kits, and by eating.
- In taxis, you can ask the driver to change the radio station by pressing D-pad left or right.
- The GTA 4 equivalent of the Lincoln Tunnel is known as the Booth Tunnel.

I think they should both be equal , but I can't stop the exclusive DLC the 360 will have.

It'll be weird playing with a 360 controller LOL :)

huh, why does 360 get more download content? GTA wouldnt be half as good as what it is now if they didnt release GTA 3 on ps2, I really do think thats a bad move by R* Games to give the 360 more content than the PS3.

Microsoft made a contract with Rockstar, £100 million (?), for the DLC.

I'm not fussed anyway.

I don't know why but I have this weird feeling the character will feel really sluggish when walking xD

Ive got a saying for this "Microsoft you **** heads"

Guessing ill now have to go and buy the 360 version of the game if its going to have more content than the PS3, its starting to get quite unfair now as the PS3 is still extremely lacking online, where our damn HOME sony

It's not nessercarily getting more, it's just 2 downloads Microsoft have paid Rockstar to make exclusive, Sony may get exclusive stuff aswell from GTA4 it's just the episodic content it wont get

It's just weird because it looks like one of those games that'll take way to long to turn around xD

I think it might have the occasional sluggish moment, something like when you have many police cars after you and you switch between islands or many people gathered around a certain area. I know it will crash a few times as all other versions did.

Yea, but you never know, Rockstar seem to be aiming for realism in GTA4 but they sort of were with SA aswell and that wasn't sluggish walking, AC had kinda sluggish walking xD

Seems quite good, hope there is some kind of free roam, and at least 8 player free roam too becuase there will definately be more than 4 of us playing it at once :P

I think wlaking could be sluggish, but running would definately be better. Wouldnt have thought much difference the san andreas though, couldnt run as fast as cars in that and it wasnt sluggish. Didnt walk very much in it though, always stole a car or even a tractor lol

Yea AC was more of a running game but when you was just walking around then it was really slow and seemed like he was dragging a fat person by their hair xD

"Heavy fire will scar - and permanently destroy - parts of the environment."

:D:D! I'd like stuff like that in a game, if you bomb parts of it, it will be permantly like that. It's so unrealistic when your bombing the ground and nout happens to it. ):

yeah, dont think it would be quite that detailed. Be odd thought if you smashed everything and nothing was fixed at all, that wouldnt make it realistic.

Maybe other things such as shop windows being smashed and then they would be boarded up for a while.

An idea I had was that you can ram a car/ throw a brick through a shop window , steal the stuff and sell it

That'd be annoying as hell though. Like if you cratered a road and then kept crashing into it.

More likely, although generally the map is such a size you shouldn't be passing the same area in such detail constantly.

Na, it wont be like that, I think it'll just leave marks or something, stuff like that uses to much data up and causes data overload so the game wont run properly, Conflict solved the issues with that but GTA4 being open world it'll be alot harder to have damage like that to stay in the game

However it could utilise the hard drive. Mercenraries 2 uses the hdd and it has destructable environments, same with the enw console version of battlefield coming out later this year.

It'll probably eat up the disk space though

Hopefully if it does you can toggle it on/off.

Don't want my hardrive filling with dents on the roads and whatnot.

good idea would also be maybe if you smashed into an electric pylon you would cause a powercut in an area for X amount of time, then during then it would be easier to break into houses with alarms or whatnot

I found this:

There are so many defining moments, but a recent one was during a police chase. A song I love came on one of the radio stations while I had two cop cars chasing me through chinatown. I was speeding along when another cop car I hadn't seen rammed me straight on, our cars crunched together, and I was sent flying through the windshield. I ducked into cover and could still hear the song playing from my smashed-up car. Then the cops opened fire, but one of them hit a pedestrian who pulled out his gun and started shooting. The next thing I know, there was a full-scale war going on between a random gang and the cops. Within a few seconds all the cops were dead and the gang members walked away. I got hold of another car and quietly drove out of the search area to lose my wanted level.

They'd have to make it hard though.
Ie, can't drive, climb and any police try finish you off.

Would make more sense if they actually arrested you if you stopped running, rather than beating you to death.

It would depend on your wanted level, I think if it's 3+ stars they'd shoot you on sight, sometimes they'd shoot then run up to arrest you but with 3+ stars it's normally shoot first, I hope if you speed you can get tickets and stuff instead of driving insanly fast and nothing happening
What would be cool is if every crime is treated however it would be in real life except shorter sentances

I hope we get to recruit gangs like we did in GTA: SA.

I totally owned the streets with my gang of old women.....following me.....a big fat black guy.

Of course, my gang of half-naked rollerblader women owned better.

Just uh....if you do still play GTA: SA......use the 9mm gang recruiting code to give the gang 9mm......dont give em rocket launchers with the other cheat.....it just leads to you getting blown up >.>

I loved using the perfect hydraulics in GTA: SA.

I'd be on a 4 star chase and whenever the cops set up a barricade, I'd jump over using the handling's jumping feature, leaving the cop car that was chasing me, smashed into the cop car barricade xD

Take 2 and Rockstar have both confirmed it, GTA4 isn't a PS3 game, GTA are not Sony games, GTA was first released on the PC
