Well to start off you should try making an actual dynamic flash page with actionscript then try advance from that.

Actionscript can do more than one thing, many things infact, and basically to make a flash game, you need to know actionscript!

Now although I agree with --ss-- that you should start off in flash, when you think you're ready for Visual Basic you can get it from the URLs below. Note that 2005 is just as good as 2008 but useless much less CPU/resources...
