I swear I just heard and saw a Vulcan flying over my house.
I've never heard any plane as loud.
I know the RAF have been talking about ungrounding the vulcan, and very nearly got there last year, do you think this could have been one of the first flights?
Those who don't know what a Vulcan is;
It's a very noisy jet which was grounded in the early 90s for being too loud.

They have to unground them as soon they won't have any planes to fly.
And It might have been.

I hope it was.
The only vulcans with the ability to still fly are held at RAF Waddington, which is not too far away from here.
It was bloody loud, cheeky buggars flying that over my house at 9am!

I doubt you hear a vulcan all the time, they haven't flown for over 10 years.

did you by any chance hear the beast that flew over around half 9?
I'm 90% sure it was a vulcan. They've been talking about it nearly flying, they were going to fly it at the air show last year but didn't get round to it because of weather.

The Vulcan had a test flight in Leicester in October last year, there's only one flying in the world, number XH558 has been the subject of this: http://www.tvoc.co.uk/ For many a year :P
BBC link here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire/content/articles/2007/10/19/vulcan_flies_feature.shtml
Being a sergeant in the ATC for three years keeps you on top of this stuff :P
I live in Lincoln, a few miles from RAF Waddington, (I can see and hear evrything that comes/goes) in fact, and I'm not sure whether they've moved it back to Waddington or not. I know they want it to fly in the Airshow this year, so maybe it's gone back to do practice flights?
Now that I think on it a little more, At work the other day I did hear a set of enormous engines go over, at first I thought it was the Lancaster or the DC-2 photo-plane Waddo has, but it could have been the Vulcan.
Metric.

There is a Vulcan about which is now flying and maybe appear at some UK air shows in the upcoming months. However, they will not be used for modern combat, only for show to the public and so on.
