Ever since i've been a member here nearly every thread has been turned into an arguement. Its seriously pathetic and i arent just speaking for myseld when i say im fed up of it.
Why cant you just either stay on topic or at least argue with the person in private?
Keep threads on topic and dont be a prat when it comes to replying. When somebody asks for feedback give them some constrictive critisism dont just insult them.

Seriously this forums become a pain to post in because any thread somebody starts is likely to be swerved off topic become some childish sod starts an arguement over something small or something that isnt to do with the topic.

Dont say this shouldnt be posted here as it should as its to do with the threads and members in this forum.

I agree to this, (even though I am a very negative person)
Most things do lead to arguements, mainly because people believe they
are better and have the right to be ignorant.

But I am getting pissed off aswell.

Especially when people won't listen.

And I know from personal experience. All people ask is for some feedback and advice and all you get is. "Drop dead" "Quit the forum" "Stop designing"
I mean what the hell? Thats no-way to treat someone.

And I am on Devode.net :P

The reason arguments start in this forum is because everyone thinks they know what they're talking about. If you've only been in the business for a year maybe two then you don't have the right to actually comment on a piece or work in a non-constructive manner. Where as those with the experience know that constructive comments don't actually help. As 9 times out of 10 they are a load of bull and only make it look worse or you get the wrong idea and balls it up. People are also better to hear the honest and blunt truth as it makes them more self aware of their work however violence is not the answer as always (ignoring the fact of murderers, then yes killing them is the answer).

You'll also find a lot of people are only posting for the sakes of a couple of posts in their post count, they won't write out good lengthy posts when it comes to commenting on someones work. Quite often I will, it may not be a nice one but none the less it is a lengthy one :)

I'm sorry but I don't agree. Abusive comments is not needed. Saying it's disgusting when someone asks for FEEDBACK is not what the thread was about. If someone said I'd like you all to slate and hate my new design thats fair enough, heh. But I do agree people who are PROPER designers such as yourself and others do reserve the right to tell the truth but being the good designers you are it wouldn't hurt to give some ideas would it?

No the difference is I wouldn't be where I am today if all the comments I got were;

"It's nice :)"

I got to where I am from trying to prove people wrong and always being better than the other person. In most cases it's pulled off and actually got me known in the area of Habbo fansite design. I'm not trying to do one better and take with into professional website design. Of course it will be a lot harder but if all I get is;

"It's nice :)"

Then I'm gonna fail, where as when I post images of Zedtu and so on. The bad comments are the ones that make my sites improve rather than the ones suggesting ideas. :)

Yes you wouldn't be where you was if the comments you got were "nice"
I didn't ask for "nice" comments. I asked for feedback, meaning ideas for potential clients. What everyone would like to see on the website. Not just disgusting. If you noticed when I posted the first preview all I got was slate. Then to prove them all wrong I attempted ANOTHER design and got slightly better comments. And I'm working to improve on the design more and more until it gets to the point where people are saying its nice but can still be improved here and there.

Just proved my point :) Suggestive comments are useless, offensive comments make the difference :) People suggesting ideas are pointless like I explained in my original post.

What do you expect it's habboxforum, that all that happens in this section, why do you think nearly all but about 3 of the half decent designers, developers and coders have left?

Yeah but greg when someones new to professional design they don't want some big old hate thread do they. I never wanted nice comments. The comments I got were fine but I wanted some advice too. Could have said, UGLY, but improve the logo and that would have been fine.

Completely agree. People in this section (inc. me, lol) are getting too obnoxious. Everyone needs to look at theirselves and realise that none of us are that great at what we do, so instead of treating someone like **** as they're new, we should help them as we're not that good either.

On the topic of bad comments, Greg your logo is HORRIBLE doesn't fit with your site, bad colors, bad shape, looks like a transformer.

I sort of agree.

It would really depend on the situation, people can comment on other peoples' work the way they want to. There is no "specific" rule for this, which causes many arguments.

Its really ethics that powers the correct way to do it. Constructive criticism is the best, whereas just plain criticism, as done by many of us, is a personal preference.

You need to know, you are probably going to get criticised, before you post, whereas most people get mad when people say bad things about their work, which in turn causes more arguments.

Well said. Nobody is perfect, granted, designers on here ARE better than other designers. But when you critisize someones work to the point where it's abuse.. thats totally and morally wrong. For new and upcoming professional designers such as myself if we post a thread with our new design in, of course we're going to expect critisizm. When I posted my first preview I knew the design wasn't perfect, FAR from it. I just wanted some ideas and some feedback by the users who could be potential clients to see what they would like to see on the website/design.

I think everyone posts a new design and KNOWS they will be open to quite a bit of critisizm for evryone has their own personal taste :)

But everyone doesn't do that, and they get mad when people criticise their work bad.

I can see pride in your work, but if a lot of people tell you it is awful, you need to listen..

I do take pride in my work because believe it or not.. I worked quite hard on the concept of them deigns. First I drew them all out and coloured them then drew them into Photoshop. So when I ask for FEEDBACK and someone just says it's disgusting as a one word answer I'm going to take offence. They may not be the best designs around but I worked on them and I took them hate comments and was about to close my site until I thought I'll prove them all wrong.. Which I will. I'm fairly new to PROFESSIONAL design and when someones new at a certain something you don't like it when all you get is hate mail. Not even feedback, hatemail. You may not know how it feels because your a good coder. But I assure you.. it's not really nice.
