View Full Version : When did this happen?

I was on Wikipedia and I randomly searched for Mobiles Disco to try and locate some screen shots and it went to Habbo (no surprise as Mobiles Disco was long ago). I noticed that it says Habbo (formally Habbo Hotel :S) and that they changed their slogan from five star luxury to "where else?".

When did they go from being Habbo Hotel five star luxury to just Habbo where else?

Thanks,
David

That's in those adverts, 'Meet me in Habbo Hotel, where else?'. I don't think they were very recent, so I'm not too sure.

It says 'formally Habbo Hotel' because the url used to be 'www.habbohotel.co.uk'.

As for the slogan change - that happened a few months back.

You've been able to use Habbo.co.uk to access Habbo Hotel since 2003. The company on the domain Habbo.co.uk is still registered under the company Habbo Hotel too. But thanks for the information.

I remember them saying they were changing it. I think it's just easier and is more "modern".

Because they're trying to change it because they're under the impression it will gain more players. Clearly they haven't looked at an average users online curve for the past few years though.

Yeah, it is really.

@virgin - A few years ago when Habbo was first made up until 05, I think, there was no such thing as Habbo.com - therefore when habbo.com (US) was made, users diverted to there and US lost some members, quite alot in this case, but is still hitting the 10k marks.

Now I think of it, the first website URL was www.habbohotel.com, wasn't it? It only changed to .co.uk when Habbo US was introduced.

I think so. It was the UK hotel design and then they either created a new server and stuff new domain and moved the server or changed the domain to habbohotel.co.uk and US got .com, but theirs was new. You can tell this because .com dont have like 01/02 players.
I guess it was getting old and they tried to attract new users with a new slogan as you may find like Sainsburys changed within not long ago to "making life taste better" and "try something new today" I dont like the newer one and like the older one but someone might be vice versa to me. So thats basically it. With Habbo I prefer "Where else?". And I like Habbo and I dont love IMVU, thought I might get that off my chest.

Yeah, .com came in about 2005, I think or maybe 2004.

Yeah .co.uk was first because I remember when .com came. I didn't understand how the change worked though. Did all the US players have to just register new accounts on .com even though that's where they'd already been?

Probably if they wanted to as all their stuff was on UK hotel so I imagine most went to the US but we still have some USers on UK as they wanted to keep their stuff. The .com got a new server and the UK one was the older server.
