Can someone give me a detailed description of what a layout is, what it does, how can i make one, how do i use it and what do i do to make one?

Layouts are customized html/CSS (cascading style sheets) scripts that can be added to your Look and Feel and give you a certain look for your site. Layouts are different from Skins in that layouts must be added to your Look and Feel and modify or 'tweak' your site, rather than build it from scratch, like Skins allows you to.
