View Full Version : Confused
Today we had a Poetry festival, something I would've enjoyed. I entered the last contest with a really good poem (one I made in English and got a 7C for). Got cheered by the judges etc. but when I sat down on the table something werid happened.
I'd been showing a new kid around school, bit of a 'chav', he's dyslexic so we could all feel for him. Anyway I sat down and he just started having a go at me for no reason (general stuff - homophobia, 'geek' etc) and I just asked him 'What the heck?"
When it came to the judges decision, my table got into the semi finals. So we wrote another poem (mainly me) and I was about to perform when 'MC dyslexic chav' pulls some ruffled teared up paper out of his pocket and says
''Use this yer ****."
I told the teacher about it, but because he was dyslexic, she just said
''He was just joking around, use Mattew's poem anyway"
"B-b-but!?"
"Just use it Nathan, you know what Mattew has been through"
Ended up saying poetry about a cow saying meow and going to a house with a mouse (yeah that's all =/). Everybody else had more crap anyway , lol, , most was about ''love is tha bst'' ''love is fluffy and cann feel nice'' half of the kids in Yr8 couldn't even form a strutured sentance! (He went down the street said to tom that gone him [seriously])
So down to judges decision, obviously gonna win 'cos of the other poem. THEY CHANGE IT. TO A VOTE.
As usual my talents get pushed into a corner and some 'chavy' group of girls won...
WTRFTDD?!
Why would a school do this, I mean, Why would I be ushered into the corner and not get anything at all. I was put into some Leeds Poetry Slam thing but I doubt I'll win if it goes to public vote.

I hear you man, I had 7a, for a Poem, but a poem about a trash can,
won rofl. & It was by a person who has been excluded 5-6 times, for trashing the English class room
They just do it to try and give them some 'confidence'.
I'm starting to think capital punishment didn't seem half-bad.

That's wrong. They can't make you use his poem. Just because he's dyslexic...? For real. I would've have used it though. I would've just gone up there and used my own. And if I didn't win, it's fine.

Sort of thing always happens, the troublemakers get their way and get rewarded for managing to half-rhyme cow and meow then the people who can actually write go unnoticed.

Dosnt sound look it was a good day.
The reason people with talent dont get noticed is because of things like that.

This annoys me, I get loads of stuff like this happen in our school. For example, these really bad kids, who had been good for 1 hour, got to clean and inspect the engine of some classic Porsche, missing out on 4 periods worth of lessons. Sorry, but, whaa? The good kids NEVER get noticed, we have 'yellow slips' and when you get them they get collected and put into a hat at the end of the year, therefore the more yellow slips you have the more chance of winning, but, we never get them, because only chavs and ******s get them when they're good. We just get the standard "off to next lesson"
They stroll in late to every lesson, does it matter? No. I come in late one time because I nipped to the loo and it was 3 minutes and I got the biggest moaning at of all time. URGH!

This sort of thing is what made me give up. Without sounding too arrogant I have an incredible natural talent for learning and especially for writing, but I went through 12 years of school seeing the bad kids and idiots getting praised for I dunno not eating their exam paper or something whilst I only had any special attention put on me and my abilities for one year when I was 7, so now here I am aged 18 with loads of potential and zero motivation. I'm in college but not doing half as well as I would if I actually worked at it, and what do I get told when I tell teachers or parents this? "Doing well should be enough reward".

teachers usually do it because they know your talents but they try to give other people a go. I know it's annoyin but its what teachers are like.

I'm just curious to know what you're confused about? There isn't anything to be confused about. Once again, the naughty kids get the attention and the praise and the good ones get shunted into the corner.

we have a dyslexic girl in my form, she's in my it class and i got all my work in for IT a test or something and she'd copied me, she got a higher mark and i got accused of copying her. ;l
and teachers are complete **** heads to me, but nice to all the bad people i don't get it, apparently its because they have bad childhoods or problems at home, but just because i work dosent mean i don't have problems.

I'm just confused to see that schools actually allow this, but there trying to help the talented.

All schools do it.
Minorities have all the power in our society, end of storey tbh.
I laughed at my dyslexic friend because he wrote behinded on everything .
oh yes, I cross the line. I cross the line becaise it's mine.
The cow may meow, but I say now,
is time for me to go. you punk *** ho

Agreed.
Yeah i hate that. They do this thing in my school, called ppms. If your good or do well in tests you get a ppm, and get points towards a trip to alton towers at the end of the year.
I hate it how i'm always behaving well and doing well in tests and only the ******s get ppms and i dont :l
This has happened to me a lot now so if it happens all the way up to my job applications etc. then they'll be no point in trying.
Last time it was a trip to the cinema and it was attendance peoples, I got left out because there wasn't enough spaces (can accept that). But that 'Mattew' from my other threads , who stole my friends, hurt me inside and basically put me in places where I didn't deserve to be. He got to go.

Hey guys it's not really fair labeling all people who find school hard this way I always got extreamly low grades and got ignored just like this. A smart A grade student either did something outstanding outside school so they had a special assembely about them or they did well in exams or tests so got a load of rewards (for example kids in science who got B's and above got sweets) But at the same time chavy kids got rewarded for their bad behavior they got given bribes to stay in school and do what their told (things like CDs and games) so well behaved kids who struggled with school work like me got no attention or rewards what so ever
