Flux; the design [WIP]

Hi,

I wasn't going to post any previews of Flux, but I thought I'd get some comments on the design.

I've only done the body layout and the header - but what do you think of it?

Yeah, I had to rasterize the corners to create a clipping mask, once I've finished the layout I'll re-do the rectangle and it'll be a lot smoother.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of sites use the text over a black rectangle design so I decided to use it :)

a skin changer would be good, but just so it changes the pink to other colours like that eater blue and lime green (has to be the right colour green though. :))

It's good but I liked the idea of it being a black and pink layout and the white kinda doesn't suit :P


Try the white box and make it pink :)

Flux is just the project's name and not the site's name. I am referring to the system as Flux for now but when we are ready to go online, we will start brainstorming for a good domain.

Can't say I like it yet sorry, the background at first looks okay but as soon as you take a good look at it, it's not very nice at old just gives it an old feeling and thats not really what you want on a site aimed at teens/young adults, then the 2 black bars you have, whats with them? they both use completely diffrent styles try keeping the the same style, + one uses black colours (the top bar) and the low bar uses gray colours keep them the same black colours. Next is the white content area try making it slightly gray but I'm sure once you've added content and other images and boxs there it will change completely. so to sum that it I think it looks good at first but when you look into it it needs work, although your use of colours is very good apart from them too bars.

I really do like the design. But if you look at places such as Myspace and Bebo, they are plain as they let there users format nearly every aspect of the design. With your design i feel that there is too much to look at.

Flux is not all about profiles, that's more myspace's area. You should read up on what Flux is, lol.

I've now changed the background to a sort of 'rising sun' design that looks great with whatever colour you overlay it with and so it'll be perfect if we add a skin changer.

I had already changed it to a grey before I read this part of your post :P
So yeah, it's now grey and there are boxes which are white but because of the grey they look very effective.

Flux is a little different though and I will be developing a similar thing to audioscrobbler but I doubt it will be as good :P

It was originally a PS brush and stuff, but I've added a few extra things to it aswell. (The background).

O.K. I've now coded the design in xhtml/css and so I'm wondering if some people could test it to make sure it works in all browsers.

Everything works fine exept the "home, sign up etc" buttons go over the rest of the bar on the left by around 20px and the text in the footer is cut off from halfway down "How does Flux stay free?"

My target audience isn't really for the iphone/touch, if I was to aim at mobile devices I would set up a mobile site :)

thought i would since its a music device Nah, as the main feature of the site wouldn't really work as it's all done using flash which the iPhone/touch doesn't support :P

EDIT: Using a resolution I now see the footer error Forge aswell as another one. The first one being it won't stretch if there is a horizontal scroll, which will be quite difficult to fix I think. The second error being the last point ("How does Flux stay free?") doesn't fit.

EDIT #2: The second error is now fixed.
