From the bbc...
Middlesbrough striker Jeremie Aliadiere has lost his appeal against the red card he received during their 3-2 defeat at Liverpool on Saturday.

Aliadiere, 24, was sent off in the 85th minute for slapping the face of Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano.
A Football Association regulatory commission rejected the appeal and he will now serve a three-match ban. Ex-Arsenal striker Aliadiere has also received an extra one-game ban as the appeal was considered frivolous.

tbh i thought he should have been sent off he was already on a yellow and that offence was a yellow card

true mascherano should have got a yellow aswell but he already wasnt on a yellow card and would not have got sent off.

Stupid FA.

Ah i am an idiot it wasnt overturned.

It wasnt unoverturned and he was given another ban cause of the case being "frivilous"

A slap should get you sent off.
It is football not wrestling.
Swearing at the ref and diving deserve red cards also.

Lol, you could barely call it a slap though, it was more of a tap. Shouldn't be compared to wrestling, even though that's fake anyway. It was probably deserved though but no need for an extra game for the appeal.

Oh fair enough. It obviosly depends on the slap. But i still don't think it should be allowed.

Did he get second yellow? Or straight red?

Im guessing straight red with that length of a ban.
What games does he miss?

Mmmm that is annoying. I know he still dives a bit but refs don't reward him free kicks some of the time because of his old reputation. When he first started he was terrible and dived way too much but he has matured alot since then.

And while we are on the subject of diving.....

Drogba?
Adebayor?

The extra game ban shouldn't have been given.
Obviously it was thought that there was some unfairness as it was provoked by Mascherano's squeeze of his face. Both should have got red cards.

You can hardly call Adebayor a diver for diving once tbf. I was gonna say Drogba was improving, and in a sense he is, but he still goes down ridiculously easy sometimes. He's not a very good diver.

Yes but Adebayors dive was ridiculous. If he's gonna dive make sure its somewhat believeable. :P

Wonder if Italy need another person to dive for them in the Olympics.

Alliadiere should have been sent off but Mascherano should have to. Did the same thing, really.

The FA thought it was petty for them to come and just sent them packing meaning the extra game he missed was against Arsenal.

I think Ref dint see Mascherano ;)

I wasn't sure but I'll take your word for it as you seem quite knowledgeable. Although I remember us having a few appeals turned down without any further match. Maybe it is only in some circumstances?
I know if they didn't do that every red card would probably be appealed.

Mmm i think that he got that extra ban because his appeal was ''Frevilous''.

It isn't 'turn down = extra game ban', atleast i don't think it is.

EDIT: Just looked it up and this is from BBC Sport:
Middlesbrough have accused the Football Association of double standards after losing their appeal against Jeremie Aliadiere's red card at Liverpool.
The FA deemed Boro's appeal "frivolous" and added an extra game's suspension to the striker's initial three-match ban.

So it was because it was frivoulous.

Andeeh

Yea they cant do it to every worthy appeal.

He should face consequences if hes gonna do it right infront of ref at least mascherano had sence not to do it under his face.

But surely the FA saw what mascherrano did when they watched the tape back. Can they not give him a 1 match ban?

No cause the game has finished.

Say if the ball went over the line and ref didnet count it they dont give them the goal if they saw replay

I think that the extra game's ban was rather harsh, but looking on it now - I do see why he recieved it.
I know, it was just unlucky for him that the ref saw him and not Mascherano. And Mascherano was more subtle than him, lol.

Yea they cant do it to every worthy appeal.

Yeah, but they both were standing next to each other so neither were exactly "under his face". Like I said, I just think Alliadiere was unlucky with the timing as the referee must have just caught him. :P

And on-topic. I think the FA have gone cuckoo. How could you overturn something Liverpool done?

Liverpool should get something for it...

It doesn't matter that he 'provoked' him he shouln't have reacted.
He knew that he would get sent off if he was caught so he deserves to be punished, things like that are ruining el joga bonita.

I agree that Mascherrano should be punished but he wasn't seen so he got away with it.

listen footballers should learn to not rise to stupidity behaviour.

if they are at pro level each week people get wound up and dont react.
