View Full Version : World of Warcraft as 'parent' forum?

Neil
29-02-2008, 04:13 PM
Why..?
World of Warcraft - Massively multiplayer ONLINE roleplaying game
So surely it belongs in the Online games forum
It seems completly pointless to take it out of the online games forum to make it as a parent forum, if you do this with WoW then you should do it with other games like Call of Duty 4, Grand Theft Auto 4 and other highly discussed games

Seriously, put it back, it doesn't need to be a parent forum, and it shouldn't be because like I said, if one game is down as a parent forum why not have others?

RuneScape has it's own section and World of Warcraft is better and more populated then RuneScape. In my opinion it deserves it's own section ;)

This is the "feedback" forum, my feedback is that WoW being a parent forum is pointless, it was fine as it was and belongs in online games

RuneScape has it's own section and World of Warcraft is better and more populated then RuneScape. In my opinion it deserves it's own section ;)

Not really, Runescape has always had it's own section, the Runescape forum is much more used than the WoW forum and Runescape is all linked, everyone can trade and do events together whereas WoW is all seperated realms, not all members use the same realms so if it's to add subforums it would be pretty useless because not everyone is on the same realm

That's just a sterotype though :P

I go on for like 10 minutes then I have to log off. Leveling is so god damn boring.

And Neil the WoW section seems to be getting more popular these days.

That's not really a decent reason for the WoW forum not to be a parent forum xD

It's not that it's a bad game it just seems pointless, if people play WoW, they go to online games, because WoW is an online game, it has always been in that forum so it's just stupid for it to be moved out of there for what reason exactly? Is their any real reason for the move?

@Smarterchild - Yes but that's still no reason for it to be moved, it may be getting popular but only slowly, people probably quit faster than people join so it's probably not exactly a high number of people even using the forum

As a member of the Habbox Council I was requested to look into a parent forum for World of Warcraft by Kristoffur.

I did some research and found out that it was a growing community. It seemed quite lively and with 792 threads and 9410 posts.
It was also bigger than:
Books
Big Brother
Online Radios
Tourism & Holidays
Vehicle and Transport
Debates
Because of this I felt they had quite a good case for their own forum and it was put to the GM who agreed and Elkaa announced it.

I cannot see a problem in helping members who put forward a good case for something and quite honestly if the thread starter would like to put forward a case for something else that he wants and would be considered instead of complaining about a decision that is a very positive step for some members of this community and hurts nobody it would be a good thing. Thanks :)

Some of those I can understand but you put it agains some of the forums that people don't use for some fairly obvious reasons

Books - Hardly anyone reads books, you get some people but not exactly a huge amount of them, since the average age range on habbox is probably something like 13 or 14 can you really expect a huge amount of them to read books?

Big Brother - Isn't that only on like..Twice a year or something? Not much to discuss

Tourism and holidays - Not everyone on the forum goes on holiday and I highly doubt many of those that do actually post about it and even less care

Vehicle and Transport - Well same as books really, not a huge amount of 13-14 year olds are that interested in cars so you only get some of the older people talking about it and that's still not gonna lead to many discussions

Debates - That was just pointless, not everyone wants to get involved in this forum and as members we're unable to start our own debates so the thread count is obviously not gonna be very high

Not to mention quite alot of the WoW forum is spam, I'm sure if there was no spam it wouldn't have a very high post count

But they are all parent forums at the moment so there was a good case for WOW wasn't there? I don't see why you are so upset about it. You can always request a forum to be added if you feel it is wanted by members or anything you feel would improve it :)

Here are some facts:

Currently the Runescape section has 3 people viewing it, the WoW forum has 0 peopel viewing it. And it's been like that for hours (at least when I've scrolled passed :P).

Somehow I get the feeling he was being sarcastic ;)

I really don't think think it's active enough to warrant a parent forum, there are only a couple of posts there per day, that's if there are any. I think there is more case for a COD forum or flight simulator forum to be made parent forums, because they are easily active enough to warrant the move.

But I don't see the harm in giving WoW it's own forum, so I say it doesn't matter tbh.

Being an active poster in those forums I can tell you that we churn out quite a few posts in that forum a day. And things have been picking up lately. And also, if WoW is an online game; thus it should have a place in the online games section, then runescape which is also an online game should be in the online games section too. However Neil, t isn't because it's popular and now the WoW forum is getting popular so the WoW forum has the same deal.

People can afford to pay £5 a month for RuneScape and maybe most people can't afford monthly fee's for WoW which is probably why the WoW section might be "quieter"

I don't mind the new forum, personally I welcome it. It's doing no harm to anyone, just click the + sign next to the catagory in there, if you don't want it to be displayed? Runescape would basically be bigger for this reason: Browser-based. With WoW you won't find as many people who can be on the forum & WoW at the same time. ;)

I am waiting for the CT one to go away, since there's really no point in it.

I wouldn't say it that's popular. The last post in the WoW for was 3 hours ago. Doesn't Runescape allow a user to do more? I'm not familiar with WoW so I don't know how similar or different it is.

A bit offtopic, but I agree. The club deserves a catagory, it'd be so much more popular. On the note of active forums by the way, I really think there should be a group of people who create these debates in the forum. Suggestions put forward to the Management, of course!

Theres only ever a few hundred thousand people playing Runescape at one time but since theres like 9 million people who play wow there will be ALOT more people playing wow than Runescape at anytime of the day.

And from playing both games Wow>Rs Imo :)

I personally hide the online games section anyway, but I think COD4 would warrant a parent forum more than WoW does. I am seeing COD4 threads everywhere in the Console Gaming & Xbox 360s forums. It should at least have a sub-section anyway.

ClubTropica is madness, it's not even open. It should of started as a sub-forum, if that was popular it should of progressed too a parent forum, if that was very popular too, it then turns into a category.

ClubTropica is hardly open yet and the forum is dead, CT will be dead. The move was just far too quick.

Who cares? What has that got to do with having WoW as a parent forum?

The global popularity of a game has no place on habbox, it's the popularity of the game from the members of habbox, Runescape is more popular than WoW on habbox, in the world then yes WoW is more popular and has more members but that doesn't have anything to do with Habbox because not every WoW player uses habbox, only a tiny amount of them whereas alot more habbox members use the RS forum
