VIP? Is there a need?

Okay so I know everyone likes VIP. But I just find it a waste of £1.50. The features offered with subscribing I admit are good but not that good. Such for example.

ARCADE: Making the arcade VIP only will not encourage people to buy VIP but to go on other forums to play the FREE games.

Avatar and Sig: Unless someone is a showpony and likes to gloat about his/her signature or avatar I really don't see the need in buying VIP for this.

Email: Everyone can create an email, having @habboxforum.com is nothing special. Granted it's nice to have something other than @hotmail.co.uk

Name: Nothing really good about a coloured name, just makes you stand out.

Usertitle: Now this I am in support of due to the way people can promote themselves as most people before reading a post read the name.

Donating: I am also in support of this due to the costs of Habbox's own brand of websites.

Anything I've missed please post below as I can edit the post :)

It doesn't exactly harm you, what's the problem?

VIP is just a way of donating and supporting Habbox, it's for members who want to 'thank' Habbox for running events, decent news, polite forum etc - The money raised helps keep the upkeep of Habbox, alongside the money they raise from adverts. The upkeep of Habbox consists of paying for the hosting and domain's, licence's and software.

Habbox would struggle to run if VIP didn't exist, and all the little features do add-up.

Agreed , VIP is an option out there for people to buy and help support the forum , no one said you have to buy vip or not but people buy it to help pay the bills for the site.

I think the poll says it all as far as I am concerned. It is pretty good value for money as far as I am concerned. For me the extra pm space is invaluable. Also the site and forum need to be funded in some way - its not a charity as far as I know although I know Sierk did heavily subsidise it for a long time.
Also I happen to know that with SMS the slice the company takes out for providing the service is almost 50% of the price - there is no alternative if the forum wants VIP via SMS.

It is needed, whether you want to buy it is up to you. HabboxForum needs VIP to support all its payments, and I doubt many people would have the goodwill to donate for nothing back. Its the major income of the forum. It is needed, unless you want to be on a major slow free host which wouldn't even be enough for HabboxForum. HabboxForum provides a service, a service to chat, discuss issues and communicate in general. Most services you need to pay, HabboxForum is free unless you want special features.

Take away VIP and what happens? The person paying for hosting, will be continuously losing the full amount of money. Who would want that? I'd take it down so I don't lose much more money.

There was no rant. I was not having a go. Nor did I try to steer people away from purchasing VIP. Just giving opnions. And I also wanted other peoples opinions which is why I made a poll to see if people liked vip or did not like vip. There's a thread in the managers only forum that you post in if you want to claim your payment, but that isn't used much by the looks of things so I dont even think much money goes out that way.

As far as i'm aware there are atleast two or three different servers for habbox , one for the actual main site , one for habboxlive and one for the forum , Habboxworld may also need it's own. Do you actually think they're cheap considering the fact the forum alone uses tons of bandwhich alongside the image hosting and the main site gets thousands of hits everyday.
Aswell as servers sierk has to pay for VB liecences, before there used to be 4 different 4 forums (this one , an us one , a ca one and gameboxforum) but now there's only two.
There are also domains to pay for on a yearly basis ,

We all know Habbox would close if there wasn't a income, they need to pay for 9 Domains and 9 Different hosts each year, they then need to give little wage to some higher ranked staff from the kindness of their hearts and not only that but they need server upgrades and everything because of the space this Forum is taking up ;)

Sierk offered them pay, they aint working for pay, they're basically working for free and sierk is sending them money every month as a "gift" for working..

The only way paying for the stuff is VIP, yes. Sierk probably doesn't have that kind of money to run all these servers and such, he has a family and everything to look after. No one else has really put money into HabboxForum and the VIP funds they get they spend on hosting and stuff, so they're not taking the money and laughing to the bank, they're spening it on us basically, to keep this Forum open and running so that we can beneifit ;)
