I know they're both very unhealthy, but which is likely to do less damage?

I like to have some kind of caffeine boost to keep me doing my best throughout the day, they both do the same thing for me, so I was wondering which is "healthier".

A large energy drink:
about this size:

or a black coffee around the same size..

I don't drink them everyday, don't worry lol.

Coffee.
Energy drinks have all sorts of stuff in and black coffee is just coffee and water.

But in an energy drink there is much more than sugar like different types of sugar, flavourings, additives etc.

Often they have caffine and taurine in energy drinks. It really depends what you're doing, but if you're exercising I'd go with the energy drink.

The coffee is better for you than the energy drink, especially if it's something like Red Bull. You can drink multiple cups of coffee every day for a year and be fine, but a can or two of something like Red Bull per day for a year would give you a heart attack - literally - it's happened.
