View Full Version : The reputation system - paused.

Okay, I know we have only just had this huge argument not that long ago, I don't want it changed back to the way it used to be, thats not what i'm about to ask, so don't start making posts flaming me about that.

Since the reputation system changed, I don't think anyone has gone up or down in rep power, the explanation why is simple. Before, you had enough rep power to eventually bring people up to the next stage (Jewel in the rough etc.). But now, as the rep power has gone down to on average about 3, and the points to get to 'legendary status' is now 5000, that means about 1666 people must rep you (and thats not including people with under 3 rep power, and over I guess). I doubt many people at all will get repped by 1666 people. The people that are legendary now already had enough rep points from before the system changed. So basicly, it has paused, and won't be moving up or down for a long time.

Another issue is the ways to recieve reputation. To recieve 1 rep power, its per 5000 posts, 600 reputation points & 730 days registered to the forum. Firstly, 5000 posts!? I've been registered on the forum for almost 3 years, and I only have just over 3000, let alone 5000, and how many people on this forum do you know that have 5000 posts or above, not many really (excluding REDNECK obviously...). 730 days, thats 2 years. Most people leave after 1 year, let alone 2 years. And okay 600 reputation points, thats achievable I guess.

So yeah, ask this question to yourself... how many times have you been repped since this system was introduced?

It's fine as it is, it's only rep. It doesn't make you feel powerful for having a big rep power :eusa_whis

yeh but the rep looks tupid lol.

600 rep is a lot tbh. thats a rough average of 200 people. i doubt ive even done that lol.

True it is only rep.
but theres no point having rep on this forum if we cant move up or down.

I think posts should be moved to 3000 per 1 rep power
rep points to 400 per 1 rep power
and every 365 days again.

i dont reli rep ppl now, only when i post a thread saying +rep as its kinda pointless tbh. ive probably repped around 5/6 ppl since the new systems been introduced?

His wasn't that high before - post count wasn't the most effective way of getting rep powers and he didn't have a massive amount of rep given

I personally don't rep much because it's not worth anything and I don't feel I'm really helping them by doing so

Falcon

Rep doesn't really bother me, it's only images & text.
& i've received a few reps.. most are neutral anyway.

and at whoever said it got changed coz too many people had over 15, no it was because people had over 50 lmao

but i think it should go back to the 2.5k posts, and 1 year, but just make it every 500 points for a power/block or whatever, higher than what it was and just about achievable.

Indeed, but the changes they did were just a little too extreme. What would of been wise (I think Catszy did a lecture on this) was to keep the reps per day limit, or have enforce it so that you can only rep 10 times per day and make it tougher to gain rep through posts. Also making it so that you can't rep the same person for, like a week would of been good too.

FlyingJesus
02-03-2008, 03:34 PM
If they were trying to cap it they did a good job, but I personally didn't see rising rep powers as a problem... maybe because I was among the high ones lol but still. I used to go up a rep power a week and sometimes faster even; I don't think I've gone up at all since the change.

jesus
02-03-2008, 05:00 PM
I agree to some extent. As people are saying 'it's only reputation' so why did the admins bother changing it in the first place? Nobody agreed with it. I'll live, however.

As GommeInc said, that changes WERE too extreme.

I don't really see a reason for the change, gaining 1 rep power for each year you're a member was quit good, I can see why the post one was increased but to 5k is just insane, and 600 rep for 1 rep power? Hardly anyone even reps people now so it's almost impossible to get an increase of rep power, I liked the idea that for every year I was using habbox I would get more power with my reputation and now I don't? And this really doesn't solve anything because people can still buy rep can't they? So they could just buy alot of it and it takes less effort than earning it

You have a very good point ad I agree.

Only 81 members have 5,000+ posts... So getting another 5,000 just for another rep point is stupid, same for the 2 years.

Every 2,500 posts, 1 year and 500 rep points seems fair to me :)

Because you can give +50Rep to your friend, they'll have like +49 and will give it back to you... Making the rep system suddenly explode, you can compare it to the global population I guess...

There were more cons to it than pros, which has been proven with this uprising on the rep system. Besides, selling VIP cost enough to keep the forum running, unless Habbox are getting rediculously ripped off?

Hopefully the Management (Elkaa/MAD) will come to a conclusion soon about this. The council finished this discussion ages ago!

I think it should be put back to whatever it was before they made that change. It actually worked properly then. Now it's much harder to go up and then you can't really make a difference to anyone elses rep level any more because of it. My friend went down 3 rep levels when this change was made.

The requierments should be lower I.E - 1000 posts/400 rep/1 year on the forum.

I also agree with the facts rep is pointless however a few changes would make it noone pointless.
