Well I'm starting a new project for 2nd-design, it's a private uploader.

The basic idea is to have an uploader like imageshack or whatever, but for any type of file, but the uploader is protected with one or more passwords/accesskeys so basicly it's a private uploader meant for yourself or your friends to which you grant an accesskey.

This will most likely (but not sure yet) be a free product to download on one condition which is the copyright to 2nd-design cannot be removed!

Looks good, however the "any type of file" proposition, to me, poses to much of a security risk in terms of backdoor attacks and so forth.

Good luck.

Would there be a limit? Ie. you can set what couldn't be uploaded.

The only files that could cause an issue are things like php files. But this could be stopped by uploading the files as .phps instead of .php.

That would be the risk the owner has to take, as it is a protected uploader.

But I did have an option in mind via a db, having general settings panel with features such as:

- Private (yes/no)(= if no, it could be used as a normal public uploader)
- Adjust file types (add/remove)
- Add/remove accesskeys (pw's)
- Set max file size in kb's
- Set destinations folder (like: /uploads)
- Generate random name (yes/no) (ex. lol.png becomes 4254254345.png)
- add/edit/remove acc's for the panel
- Set maintenance (on/off)(on disable's site & displays maintenance page)

etc etc
