I think it's the virtual goods sellers that lose out, as there's no proof you sold him anything.

withdraw the money/spend/move to another account. Remember you can just change your paypal primary email and delete the one you were using before.

If i were you, i would contact PayPal, and tell them the whole story. But you can, as everyone else said, make a new account, send money on it, and buy things :D

What to do?

Not break the 'Habbo way' in future.

Ostinato
09-03-2008, 04:40 PM
Unfortunately you won't get away doing that. They will take you to court and trust me they will track you down one way or another... They won't just settle for you basically nicking 50 quid of their money.

Although it isn't your fault and it's cause this idiot has stole it back from you, that's the extra price you have to pay of selling habbo stuff - you lose any attached security.

09-03-2008, 05:15 PM
Trust me, you wont get away from them. They're prepared to put a fair amount of effort in to get their money back. Expect to begin receiving cards from someone at a law firm pretty soon. If you gave a fake address, they will get you harder when they find you, as in the terms and conditions it almost certainly says that you must use real information.

Well, what can you do? You can't 'run', so you may as well pay the funds and take this as a lesson. Don't sell Habbo rares again.

I found myself in a similar situation, except it was for a £250 transaction. However i did move the funds and spend the cash ASAP, i did that whenever i made any transactions. Before i dropped the goods the funds was transferred over to another paypal account or spent.

However me not being quickly enough to realize at the time they would hunt me down, so i received a letter from a firm called Interum Justicia (or something similar, can't remember spelling).

When i did that i just basically phoned the bailiff company up and first of all asked what paypal was, then put the question over to them that i was only 15, and thus could not sign up to such a service in the first place. A few phone calls later they asked me to send a copy of my birth certificate to prove my age and that would be the end of the matter.

To this day i haven't heard nothing from either paypal or there bailiffs, and lets put it this way if they did come to remove goods up to £250 + bailiff charges i don't own anything, its 'all my mum and dads'. Meaning they couldn't touch jack ****. However all my details, bank account number, and debit card numbers have been basically banned from the system. Meaning i can't use my card to pay for things over paypal.

My advice to you is worry about it when they start chasing you, until then don't sell via paypal.

my mate had a negative balance in his paypal account, he had debt collectors on the phone and they told him if he did not pay it back they can open a court case. I ended up lending him the money.

You can't just "steal" almost £50 from a multi-national credit company, you're stealing money and also providing false information which is also a felony. What's more is that you are under age which I believe is not allowed in the T&C's, which is again providing false information.

You won't "get away with it" by not putting money into the account. If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it.

My God, this thread makes you seem like such a *******! You think you can just literally steal £50 from PayPal you idiot? If you go to court and it goes to the papers I will love to see the article. What would it be like?
' Teenage boy sold furniture froma well know online game called habbo Hotel. He got 'scammed' by the buyer, who then decided to ask for the money back, so the seller decided to wander his way around this, ending up with -£50. After thinking that he could just get away with it, he has been fined, more tomorrow.'

Sorry, couldn't resist...

Hardly think its international news. In all fairness I doubt it'll reach court. At worst, his parents will have to pay £50, which I expect they will.

It will take weeks before they do hand your case over to a bailiff company you know? They'll give you a chance to pay the balance, send a couple of e-mails then you won't hear anything, just a letter drop through your letterbox from the bailiff company.
