Film4 are showing a (modern) classic British directed/set film over the next 2 weeks.

Last night (saturday), they showed Gosford Park; which is pretty good, but a bit of a bum number to be fair.

Tonight there's Shane Meadows film "Once upon a time in the Midlands" and on Tuesday is Mike Leigh's "Vera Drake"

All of which are good films and worth watching! ;)

They absolutley have to show Brief Encounter, The Third Man, and Withnail & I, if the series has any credibility.

I believe they'll show Brief Encounter and Withnail & I; since they both appear in their top 50 British films to see before you die.

Withnail & I comes in at second place.
Brief Encounter is at 22.

And Dead Man Shoe's by Shane Meadows features quite high up in the list also, which is pleasing. (which is being shown on saturday night!)

But I can't see next week's schedule yet so can't tell you anymore!

because he can do what he wants. there's no rule against it so what's your problem?

You make it sound like I don't do it that often!

Anyone who is planning to do A2 Media, one of the topics is contemporary British film; this is why I've found this fortnight to be more appealing, if you're wondering! (films from 2000 onwards :))
