What's the go with that? Seems like the council is going downhill quite fast.

Just wondering.. :s

And J1MI too. May 2nd, a day to remember if the Council carries on. The next council team (if any) will be interesting. I think the council will be shortlived if Sierk & MAD are running it. Then again, there's always a possibility with them being so close to it now, developments might be made.

I doubt it.

i dont personally think it's right

how can the person be in charge be in charge of the group that comments on his decisions

Well in a summary, it's not right.

It's a shame to see J1MI go though... LOL I remember he made a right mess-up of FM (in my opinion!) but I think in the Council he was getting bored? I guess sometimes you have an ideal position, and then if you just aim too far up then you get ahead of yourself and make it all tumble down. Shame that.

Nvrspk's still habbox staff, so not all is lost. :P

Pyroka

He was Council Co-Chair as soon as J1MI came into the picture. or at least i think he was? Lemme check Council forum. Yeah, its out of date.

So who was Chair? nvrspk4 did all the things a chair person did. J1MI as far as the council sees him, did nothing :S

Pyroka
14-03-2008, 11:57 AM
nvrspk was the chair at first, but then they were given the same authority as eachother, giving them co-chair status. Uhm... Well thats the title he was given. Whether he did anything in it is another issue.

You know I have a lot of time for J1MI - he has worked tirelessly and productively for Habbox for years - something must have frustrated him for a long time in the same way as Nvrpsk4 for him to resign.

Hmm, still a bit iffy. Why did they demote him when obviously he did more and has more power than J1MI who was just a Forum Administrator, compared to an AGM which is the third highest rank on Habbox?

I'm not sure what MAD and sierk plan to do with the council, they're the reason it failed in the first place, by controlling nvrspk4 and not talking to anyone...

Yeah, J1MI has been damn loyal, can't doubth im for that. I guess something was on his mind though, and the council just pushed him?

Yeah, well I dunno...

Maybe they'll be more open about the council if they were controlling one person, since they can't control anyone else now!

Did the council push him? As far as it looks, he was given the job but did nothing. Something must of happened before he was given the job. How can the council push someone who wasn't involved :P

It's just going to be the same as it was before nvrspk, except now we talk to the organ grinder and not the monkey  But the same effects will follow unless somehow the council is made simple with power.

I think the irritation from ---MAD--- and Sierk's dismissals of ideas pushed him off the edge to quit Habbox, yeah. Him and nvrspk must've at least spoken about it.

The organ grinder listens to his music, and his music only... The council is crying out for power if it really wants to make a good difference to Habbox.

You know the Council doesn't need power. Nobody minded that it didn't have any - what it needed was empowerment to discuss issues that Habbox members thought important enough to bring up. This goes back to the old adage of fear of delegation any purposeful decision making to the senior management staff. What the Council needed was to be listened to and I hate to say it treated with some respect for it's contributions and some decisions actually made. Nvr did his utmost to try to get it to work with seemingly little support except for some active Council members and if I had been J1MI going into the mess that it was due to the goal posts being changed and it becoming more complicated and beaurocratic all the time IMHO I would have run a mile too.

If 1000s of members struggle to change anything how could a select bunch of council members? I expected the council to fail from the start and feel quite bad that it has due to the work nvr put in to it.
I thought the council was going to be run independently with nvr as the middle man? if the council will be run by staff then they might as well just remove it and carry on doing what they like.

Its a shame to see nvr go because he works very hard and considers the members in his decisions which is what is lacking in other areas of management in my opinion.

LOL @ REDNECK
If the council was run how it should be and not as a tool to silence a few people then there would still be some of the most influential HxF members on it. I was against the council and would only ever consider going on it if management listened. It turns out the council is just for new ideas? surely the feedback forum does all that.

He doesn't integrate with staff or members much, or doesn't appear to have any important administrative jobs aside from keeping the websites paid. He takes more of a supervisory role, which seems to work for him so I'm not knocking it. But now he has a title other than "owner" and will be getting involved with discussions and decision making, which sould be a plus for hx judging by his posts around the forum.

If he didnt want X to happen he would click his fingers and change it himself if need to be.

Amen to that. It was always going to fail and never will suceed properly whilst the current management including sierk are incharge of Habbox. If management are going to chair the council then it will be under even more control of management.

The problem with sierk is that he doesn't listen or take notice of what is going on. 8Freak8 was a power maniac and it also seems MAD is judging from what has been happening and the way Rosie was treated. I think it would be a good idea for sierk to fire all existing upper management and have a vote for someone to take them jobs because at the moment and the past 15 months management has been extremly unpopular pushing through stupid, uneeded and useless rules and changes.

To an extent I agree as Sierk has always been pretty prompt when I've contacted him and he's fairly headstrong when he actually wants to get something done, but Nvrevrevrevrtalk was really good and put more effort into it than was ever asked or required of him so kudos to him for that, he's a genuinely decent guy.

Also on the topic of Nvr's "rank" within the council; co-chair is not lower than chair, it just means that he shared the position with J1MI - he was not demoted.

This will sound like i'm sticking a dagger into nvr's back but I'm not meant to be implying that!

This can only bind well for himself and for the users of habbox.

Why do I say this?
Well, nvr now has a bit more spare time on his hands, he's first and foremost an AGM here, as well as being a VIP editor & staff editor, meaning he will have more time (assuming he still uses the same amount of time on the forum) if needs be to help give them a re-freshing boost, like he always does when he puts his mind to a job, he's absolutely brilliant at making statements and because of his friendly nature staff (and members) respect what he says more, I believe.

The reason why it's good for members is because now we have direct input from management, there is no hiding behind a middle man (nvr), they will have to answer to the council directly, they can be as blunt with us as they like, they can be as leniant as they like; but they won't be able to hide from ideas which are proposed to them now. Ultimately this will lead in quicker decision making and in theory, quicker implementation time.

:)

What would have been better Smiddy is if there had been a few more open minds where it mattered and some empowerment given to NVR. What on earth do you put anybody in charge of anything and then say sorry you have to consult me before you can do anything and by the way I have decided that the whole purpose of the Council has now changed. If anybody wants to disagree please say what he actually had the power to do. His hands were tied and his feet too. I do believe that he did not get credit for the intelligence and common sense that he has and the same lack of confidence in and respect for the Council applied. They talk about negative posting of the members -find me something positive from them have said in the last week? On a positive note Smiddy you have done some great work for the council and I really hope it gets somewhere :)

Haha I haven't done half as much for the council as I should do; namely because it's still all a loss to me still, I tried but then no action was taken.

But the reason he got no power is simply because he's not the highest rank on Habbox, that is still Sierk at the end of the day; and it would make more sense if he ran the council. I do agree with you though, why should nvr of been given the role if he was going to be shot down most of the time.

I'm going to try to stay out of the management bashing and appreciate all the people that said nice things about me :love3:

But in good conscience I can't allow people to get bashed for things that aren't their fault.

So just to clear up two misconceptions:

- Co-chair was not a demotion, they offered for Jimi to help, I accepted, they asked what his title should be and instead of having him as Vice Chair I felt he should be on the same level as me, and thus I asked for both our titles to be Co-Chair.

- Jimi did not resign because of hating the system, he simply decided he didn't have enough time and also HxC wasn't something he wanted to do, as he said to me, he's more of a techie, and we  him anyway.
