Police had been searching for the nine-year-old for over three weeks.

The youngster has now been taken to a police station where she will be reunited with her mother.
Sky's north of England correspondent Gerard Tubb said: "I only know that she is alive but I wasn't given any impression that she was harmed.
"They've got her, they're very excited."
Shannon failed to return home from school after a swimming trip on February 19.
The schoolgirl's aunt Amanda Hyett said Shannon's mother Karen Matthews had been driven away by police from the family home shortly before 2pm.
Earlier this week, Ms Matthews, 32, a mother-of-seven from Dewsbury, West Yorks, said: "She got abducted. That's all I can say."
Asked if someone she knew was responsible, she said: "It seems that way because there's no trace of her at all.
"There's no trace of her swimming costume, her towel or anything like that that she's taken with her."
Shannon had been dressed in a black jumper with a school logo, a white cotton T-shirt, black trousers and a waist-length black coat with fur round the hood.
One national newspaper offered a £20,000 reward for information about her disappearance.
Police searched more than 200 homes and received over 300 calls from the public in their extensive investigation.
Friends and neighbours also distributed leaflets appealing for information about Shannon's whereabouts across West Yorkshire.

What a relief, I'm glad she is alive, not sure what's gone on and no doubt we will hear more. I'm so tired and fed up of hearing the news of so many missing kids, young deaths and stabbings lately.

Why can't they find Maddie!
I wonder if she is still alive, Hopefully. But I doubt it now :(.
I'm glad she's been found. :)

Well I am very pleased she has been found but I hope they look into her home circumstances now as it was said she wanted to leave home and was covered in bruises :(

I reckon the parents did it tbh.
Look at the cash there making from it.
Theyve done like a million pound movie deal or something?
Good to see this one has been found, bit strange though, Im presuming shes been groomed or something. You dont just go off for 3 weeks.

I also believe the parents did it, but I would just love to see Maddie be safe and sound.
The odds are very unlikely though. I've always blamed the parents for her disappearance.

I couldn't care less about it really. A bit fishy about where she was found though... it's been a fishy day what with the Champions League being fixed.

You couldn't care less about a little girl who was presumed dead and most probably defiled by a paedophile has been found alive and well? Well that goes to show the sort of person you are ;).
UPDATE.
A West Yorkshire Police statement said: "As part of ongoing investigations, detectives and specialist search officers attended a house at Lidgate Gardens, Batley Carr, Dewsbury, at 1230 GMT this afternoon.
"During a search of the house, officers located Shannon Matthews who was found concealed in the base of a divan bed.
"A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of abduction at the address and is currently in custody at a West Yorkshire police station.
"Shannon is currently in the care of West Yorkshire Police. Investigations are ongoing."

Anyone else think there's something 'fishy' going on?
I think there's something going on with the parents.
Hmmmmmmm.

Tbh, I don't give a **** mate. Loads of kids go missing every day, what makes some more special than others?

Lots of people go missing every day. The circumstances are the difference. It's rare for young girls to disappear without a trace. Yeah people go missing, adults who got pissy with their girlfriends and stuff. This is totally different. Lots of kids don't go missing every day, not in these circumstances.

"A man was dragged out & Shannon was clinging to the police officer for dear life"
Ohh, Aw :(
Wow, nice of the media to jump to her attention now eh?
They lost interest when they found out she wasn’t photogenic, her parents were working class and she didn’t have millions of pounds of donations from billionaires who wanted to help, aka the Maddie campaign.

Apparently she's the first girl to be found alive after this amount of time in the UK, according to Sky News. The fact that a girl went missing years ago and got reunited with her parents when she was an adult is out of the question, but tis interesting none-the-less.

Wow, i'm very happy to hear this good news. I know I didn't know her but it's always nice to see such an ending. I just hope she's okay but judging by the news she seems it.

Great that she was found and obviously the hard work paid off! I don't think the parents had much to do with it tbh however I guess I have no evidence to support myself :(
Glad shes been found!
