After a lengthy review, Habbo.net has now decided to request for its official status to be withdrawn on Habbo.co.uk.
In 2005, we were randomly added as an official fansite (as HabboForum.com) -- we never applied to become an official fansite, although it was a great honour for the website.
Three years later, however, we are expected to meet many requirements in order to remain as an official fansite. Unfortunately, many of the requirements in question are not suitable for fansites which consist of discussion forums only, such as Habbo.net; it is clear that the requirements are more suited towards your typical Habbo fansite, such as habbo news websites, and we feel that it's just not practical for us to try and meet their requirements given the nature of this website.
One example is the expectation to update this site every two days with new content, however the required content cannot include forum topics or posts. Given that we're just a forum, it is impossible for us to achieve this without changing the purpose of this website.
We feel that it's only fair on both, Habbo Hotel and ourselves if we request for our official fansite status to be withdrawn. It's clear that we're unable to meet their expectations and we're obviously not the type of fansite that they're looking for.
What does this mean for you? Well official fansites have to abide by stricter rules and must enforce them. When you take into account that our active user base consists of users aged between 16-18, it's obvious that some of these rules are not necessary. You can expect these rules to change once we have been removed as an official fansite.
You may also be interested to hear that we're making plans for some significant changes which should take place in the near future. These will be announced in due course.

This decision has been agreed upon by all moderators, supervisors and administrators. Habbo.net is honoured to have worked with Habbo on an official basis, however it is time to move on. Our plans should be made available to the public as soon as we finalise them!

Karl
