I've invested a lot of money to improve my work space so I can optimize my web development. I have now entirely converted to Macs with a MacBook and an iMac. Here's some snaps of my new work area, which overall makes me feel more productive while I'm working. No more clutter and wires coming out from every jack and port possible. Thank god for Apple :)

I must admit I never expected much of a change once I got my iMac. However the pure amount of extra space I have now is incredible. Just a couple of cables for power, keyboard, mouse and external hard drive. Where as with my two PCs there were about 30 odd cables just for the basics.
I'd recommend anyone who has a small living space to get an iMac, improves the space a lot. I can now get my desk chair under the desk as the computers aren't there holding it out :P

What price do you pay for taking away about 10 wires? About £200 more than you should pay in monetry terms, you loose a lot of program functionality, i.e. gaming. I don't see STEAM Games being ported to MacOSX do I? But they are doing it for Windows and Linux :O Funny that.
For a basic PC:
Power
Keyboard/Mouse (In one if you use wireless)
Monitor
so thats three. :/
Buy a Mac Pro you are basically getting an overpriced peice of ****. I could go out, buy Leopard, patch it and install it on my computer :/
You can get PCs with the screen built into them, its either called MODDING, LAPTOPS or UMPCs :|
And that Apple painting is kinda sad :/
******* Apply fanboys piss me off.

he said he wanted it for web developing, not for gaming.
it all looks so shiny. i really wanna get a macbook.
can you use one remote for both of them, or do you have to use the specific one?

may i also say dreamwever and photoshop run quicker on this mac than they do on the pc even though the pc's specs are far greater

Get a PC, and download OSX x86 or what ever it is, and there, you have a mac for $1000 then the original.. but wait, there is more!! it runs like the original ;)

Okay, so someone said Mac aren't good for gaming. Please anyone else who owns a Mac try this and you'll be wetting your pants from pure amazement. If you downloaded World Of Warcraft to a PC it takes a couple of hours to install, my friend actually had to go out for an hour or so to pass the time. When he go home it was installed. Where as when I installed it on my iMac, it took a max of 5 minutes and I was online playing. Same again when I installed it on my MacBook. I'm not personally a big fan of WoW but it's just something which shows the difference when it comes to games :)
Also I'm a hater of all products affiliated with Microsoft. The only good thing Microsoft have made in the past 10 years are their maps software which was a direct copy of Google Maps, I will admit it's better but still a copy. Other than that I don't see much they have provided me in the way of enjoyment or making my life any easier. To get stuff to install onto my JAL and Mercury computers was a nightmare. You'd plug in a USB device then have to install it's software from a disc and then if you unplugged it - it sometimes had to be reinstalled. Now with my Macs I don't need to install any software, they just work. Call me a fan boy all you want, I can bet a lot of people who attack others for using Apple are filled with jealousy. If you actually bothered to save up a bit of money to buy maybe a MacBook or an iMac then you would automatically notice the difference. Everyone who says they crash, are slow, incompatible with software and so on obviously haven't tried out the latest generations.
So don't diss Macs when you don't own one.

To show the difference here's a picture of my work space before converting to my Macs. 3 monitors, two cpus, chunky wireless keyboard, chunky wireless mouse, web cam, speaker. The fact that the iMac has a massive screen means I no longer need 3 monitors to give me the same amount of vision. Also even thought the mouse and keyboard were wireless I still needed a charger for the mouse and the sensor for the keyboard was a USB wired which sat on the desk. Then the webcam had to sit on my desk however on the iMac it's built in. Then the two speakers (originally a surround sound system) have to sit on the desk, however with iMac also built in. I no longer have to have my PS3 sat on my desk either, as I had to use my middle monitor as my TV. Now it's been moved onto my chest of drawers so the PS3 can too. So as you can imagine the amount of cabling I had before was massive, however now all I have is;
Power Cable for iMac, usb for mouse, usb for keyboard, power and usb for external hard drive and my clock...

After looking at this picture for a while, I have no idea how I coped with all the crap :S

Hi there,
You can get equally well designed PCs, by the way. You could, therefore, have bought one of those and your desk would have been just as clean. It's not a fair comparison when your old computer was, well, ugly.
But please don't rant at me or flame me with your fanboy flame thrower, I do use a Mac.

Also I needed 3 screens so I could organize my work space. Now I just use Mac's Spaces which is built into Leopard.
That looks hot.. Well done.

Even though I'm a mac user, just don't start having debates over PC vs MAC, its just stupid both have advantages and disadvantages. I only switched to mac and linux because i have no need for windows anymore. The no-wires thing, i seen some messy mac setups before, so just take that OTT saying it beats PC and all that crap.

Looks nice and tidy, but it's a huge generalisation saying only Macs have little cables. The only extra cable I know of that changes that makes a PC have extra cables is one for a monitor. 3 if you want decent speakers and besideles remain hidden behind a desk, so it's not really an issue :S
That said, it looks neat and tidy, and is definetly what you need so no comment really :)

lol, i'll pic my workspace later when i cba. In all fairness, I stick my computer in itself out of site, have an external disc drive up out the back so it doesn't take up space, I have 2 monitors, 19 inch widescreen and a 22inch widescreen, 2 speakers which are placed well, a phone dock, a fat modem, a skinny wireless router, and a bunch of cables on the side, and a cabinet that holds all discs and crap. I'm going to go clean it all up now. Just to show you it's possible. Even though I want a mac so bad!

With the Mac Pro's, I don't see why they have decent graphics cards in them because hardly any games work on them.

With it many hard drives you can have and so on, you can boot camp it with windows, liunx and so on. So you could most likely play most :P

Video editing and 3D modelling which are two things the mac is primarily used for needs a very high spec graphics card

Sorry to totally bump this thread.
In no way are Mac Pros for advanced professional design and development. They're for very high-fly things, such as scientific experiments, complicated maths, and video/high-resolution graphic rendering. For Professional design and development, a entry-level iMac will suffice; though the higher-end iMacs work better for it.
