Hmm, when you turned it off did you just switch off at the back or hold down the sleep button on the front until it goes into standby then swithch it off at the back

Switched from the back only.

Switched from the back only.
That's possibly the biggest no of all as it corrupts the software and hardware

You may not get a replacement as it's your own fault. Anyway, ring them. Much quicker and their customer setice is great. Also, is it a 40GB model? If it's the 60GB then you'll get a new 40GB model + the difference in price between the 60GB and 40GB in money

Him turning a playstation off from the back switch breaks it? I never used to put my PS2 on sleep/standby. I just turnt it off by the switch

I'm always careful when turning it off. I quit out of the game and everything to ensure nothing goes wrong. Sometimes you cba to go through all that though and just wanna flick the switch like you did.

I use to do it when I had it brand new. Use to take the disk out and put it back in it's box. Now I cba and just flick the switch :P

I didn't know you could put ps2s on standby until last year :P

I always go to turn off console by pressing ps button then wait for the red light to come on then press the switch at back

I've never put it on Standby, I don't see what the difference is? Does it start up really quickly or does it carry on on a game where you left off?

mines always off at back, if its on standby it turns itself back on becuase ive set up remote play for my psp so I can turn it on whereever i like through wireless internet.

Ah I know now, you mean where the switch is on but the PS3 is on 'red'.
I don't see why you'd keep it like that all the time. It doesn't save time. :S

To the person say they sometimes get three beeps when putting it onto standby it's because you are holding the button two long and you are restarting the system.
