Right, i dual-booted linux using wubi which installed Ubuntu 7.04, everything works perfect apart from the internet, it won't connect at all, i put the passphrase in and it doesn't work, i put the HEX key in also insted, this does not work. I also took the pass off the reuter so it was open, still it wouldn't connect, Windows XP connects perfect though, and so does my laptop which runs vista, so it has got to be something up with Ubuntu itself..

I was thinking I probably have to install some drivers or something, I can do this buy transfering with USB stick, it's not a problem.

If anyone knows any soluctions please let me know, i'm sure this is fixable.

UBUNTU SUCKS FOR NETWORK/INTERNET CONNECTION HELP:(

Also, I have a boot up screen which makes me choose Ubuntu or windows, this is fine but I want it to automatically boot up with XP, but if I want to boot ubtuntu i have to press a button or something to make it go to boot up screen then I can choose which OS, (this is what i want it to be like), i know this is possible, can somebody please tell me how this is done? :)

Thanks you in advance, +REP to help.:)

Guessing your useing grub as the boot loader, you can easly edit grubs config file to set windows as the deafult O/S and change the time it waits for reselection.

With internet, linux is often a bit dodgy with drivers (requre's a bit of hacking about to get em working in my expereince) but once they are, it should work without any problems?

Maybe try updating to current releace 7.10 and see if that fixes anything?

I would try update but the thing is it can't update cause it won't connect to the internet:(. any ideas mate?

I'm sure theres a standalone installer that i could download on here, then put on my pen drive to put onto my linux, i am pretty sure you can download a standalone update of some sort?

Download 7.10 from Windows and see if Ubuntu can update from the iso downloaded in Windows?

Would that work? isn't there any way i could just remove 7.04 and install 7.10 with MagicISO or something as i have no blank cd's spare..

What I did when I couldn't get wireless drivers, it detected my ethernet card so I plugged the ethernet cable in, upgraded, downloaded wireless drivers and all was fine, does it detect your ethernet card? (Do you have one?)

if you get an ethernet cable and plug it into your PC and Laptop ethernet ports, then bridge your PCs Wireless connection and the wired connection the Laptop can go through your PC for the internet, so then you could update etc...

This is assuming your PC has either wireless and wired or two wired connections.
