View Full Version : [RELEASE] Housekeeping V2 - FREE!

Well hello there!
It seems so long since I posted a thread like this, years ago when I first released Housekeeping.
Well, I have come back to you, with a new version. It may not be the best, you may not like it, but I am proud of myself for finally completing something .
This is the free version, of the script, which means it doesn't include half the features the paid version will.
If you find any bugs, which I am sure you will, feel free to use the contact details inside of the README.txt file.
Please do not post security exploits in the public, those need to be passed along to me in private ;)
Also make sure you obide by the license.
You can find the ZIP here:
http://www.dentafrice.com/Housekeeping%20V2%20-%20B1.zip
About the paid version:
If you wish to use the free version, until the paid version is ready, it will have an upgrade feature :)
Hope you enjoy,
Caleb

Got this when installing:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/******/public_html/housekeeping/classes/database.php on line 8

This means you do not have PHP5 on your server. If you have a good host, they will have PHP5 installed and parse .php5.
Create an .htaccess file in your /public_html/ directory with the following contents:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

The config file is supposed to be empty, it writes it after the installation finishes :)
I fixed that, thanks for telling me!
Mirror: http://www.zetolic.com/en/HKeeping.zip
Installer doesn't work for me..
Step 5
You need PHP5, downloaded the new copy (same URL in my first post) and the README will explain how to make a local copy of PHP5 (very easy..)
Download the new update, located at the same URL as in the first post.
It includes an updated to the install file, that removes my localhost (was testing)
Thanks!

If you wish to purchase the paid version in the future, it will have a templating system which will allow you to import the old layout. :)
This should be a great feature for those looking for the "old school" look!

Oooh.
Im making a few adaptations, primarily consisting of a private messaging system and ability for DJs to change their passwords, as well as a radio info page and brute force protection maybe.
Also a timetable lol.
So i may release this unofficially as an addon if Caleb permits me to do so (i know its not against the licence to release adaptations but in case thats the features he was thinking of for the paid version)

Most users do not have the knowledge to do this, I released a free version, it includes all the features needed to have a basic radio site.
I spend my time coding, and making a decent product, I do want to make a little bit of profit from it.
If the users do not wish to purchase the paid version, he/she can stick with the free version, which will include frequent updates and features, it will never match up to the paid version though.

Likewise, as time moves into the 21st century, people are becoming rather appreciative of 'nerds' or 'geeks' such as you (no offence) and others, I've noticed I used to be called nerd or geek, now when referring to one that does anything technical, it's used as 'programmer', 'techie' or even 'genius'!
But still, not at the phase when we walk out in public and show it off.
