Entire NEW cast for Skins in Series 3

The executive producer of Skins has confirmed its entire cast will change for the next series.

Bryan Elsey said: "There are risks associated with dumping a cast, but we just did it. There was some disquiet at the channel, but then they told us just to go with it.

"It's exciting - we never stand still and we can tell our stories in a new way."

Speaking at Broadcast's television drama conference this week, he also confirmed the show would stick to its pattern of introducing college-age characters, moving them on in the next series, then letting them go.

"The first year is about getting to know the kids, and the second gives us the advantage of being able to explore their psyches a little more," said Elsey.

The show will also continue to use a team of up to 20 writers, including newcomers.

I'm gutted... I think it's amazing, but with new characters, I'm not so sure.

Thats terrible to be honest, I find it hard adjusting to change in TV programmes because it just doesn't seem to same anymore... I will probably watch it but if I don't enjoy the first few episodes I will give up on it.

I'm not sure that's totally true because they have already started filming series 3 and were looking for new characters to be alongside the current ones.

It'll just be new characters along with the original ones, so they can evolve the story line a lot more by having more main characters.

Hmm, interesting. I doubt they'll drop everyone though, they'll have been contracted for a certain number of years.

they did a audition in Bristol the other week, 20 people got picked for a main part, 2 of them are my friends :]

and they were talking to someone who was a extra there and they said

EDIT: So they're auditioning for parts in Series 3 but they've already been filming it...? :S

They held auditions over england about 1 or 2 months ago, One of my mates got in as an extra lol, dancer at a party lool.

But i head that a few of them are going to stay in for the first few episodes and..

I heard this, they won't just get rid of them straight away, they'll be in the series but slowly disappear like said, they'll go off and do different things so they won't be in it anymore so they have new characters.

I watched Skins for the first time a few days ago. I don't know, it was weird. I came away feeling depressed. I don't think it's good TV at all and the representations are ridiculous.

Did you notice the incredibly poor acting and editing skills, too? The continuity issues are terrible.

Its not like we're never going to see the actors in the current cast at the moment, because now they are well known and will probably go on to do other stuff... But I think getting rid of the WHOLE cast is a bad idea... Does it include Effy though??

And everyone will probz be in love with the new cast anyway, and we'll all love it as much if its any where near as good as Series One was.

i think effy will stay, but move into a main character position, and not just a regular.
effy is younger than the rest, so i assume she'll be coming into college in series 3
