I say PS3, because in gaming consoles i am a bit fan of sony. However i do not like the price.

Also i hate Xbox controllers!

PS3 has not released many games, but you can use PS2 games on it if liked.

TBH until they lowe there prices not many people will by PS3 and they wont be able to stop sellin PS2's then they cant really sell PS4

both have stronger points over eachother in different areas, therefore it's hard to give an accurate result.

For example,

The Xbox 360 has a wider range of games than the PS3, although this is natural as the 360 has been on sale the longest and the developers have therefore had more time to create the games.

The recent Xbox 360's are now fitted with an HDMI port, but it goes without saying that the PS3's graphics are far superior to the 360's.

The Xbox 360 is cheaper than the PS3.

The PS3 supports Blu-Ray high definiton discs, whereas the X360 supports HD-DVD (with an additional drive). Blu-Ray is more popular than HD DVD, and afaik, there will be no more titles released on HD DVD.

The X360's wireless experience is apparently better than that of the Playstation 3.

The PS3 has an advantage with it's XMB, it also supports full web browsing, inbuilt WIFI adaptor as well as an ethernet port, but on the other hand has a lower amount of DLC to that of the 360.

Overal - Xbox 360: Great for hardcore gaming and number one for online gaming
ps3: amasing for games like fifa or racing games but online is poor!

I had a 360 and it gave up and died after less than a month so I waited until the PS3 was released and got one :) PS3 is much better and far more reliable. We also get free online play and not forced to buy it.

I like the look of the Wii but without GTA4 and a few other games there was no way it came before the ps3 or 360. I might get a wii at some point but im in no rush.

If you want to buy the cheapest blue-ray dvd player you are looking at £230 so for the ps3 and 2 games and also 2 controllers then £290 is great.
They say games will be made for the ps3 until 2016/17 (a new sony console will be out way before 2016)
the 360 online play is much better I agree but the ps3 online play will be improved and probably copy alot of the 360 online play in time.

When is the new Xbox due? It is alot less powerful than the ps3 so I imagine they will be bringing something new out in the next 2 years.

I am annoyed with sony that they stopped the backwards compatability for the 40gb version (the ps1 games work on it but not the ps2)

Must say I prefer a Wii as I'm not a hardcore gamer at all and just like a little bit of light hearted fun. If I want more games then I just use my PS2. I have never even touched a PS3, but enjoyed playing on Burnout Paradise City on a 360 Live. So 360, even though I don't own either console.

I am just playing Burnout Paradise on the PS3 andits amazing :) I doubt theres much of a difference on the 360 though.

60gb are no longer made so you would need one 2nd hand or a over priced brand new one that somebody has saved to make a big profit.

I have kept my ps2 and im sure in the future some 3rd party company will make a ps2 emulator to use with the ps3 (sony said they are not going to make one)

i opened up my ps3 and voided the warranty

but i fixed it turns out my little brother threw a toy at it and knocked some of the stuff inside about and gave it a bloody great scratch on the outside
just put everything back into place checked all the wires and got rid of all the dust

and presto

all fixed

Indeed I also have both, im not really spoilt. Ive only got the 360 arcade and I bought that with money I earned.

Id say PS3 at the moment as I dont have live for xbox yet :( however for the month I had it live is pretty awesome, apart from the lil 12 year olds screaming and having tantrums when they get shot.

I like the PS3. As my mate had an XBOX 360 and it kept breaking and his XBOX burned his disks.

Also about backward compatibility for PS3.. why don't you just keep your PS2 (if you still have it), because that is what I'll be doing.

Becuase my 60GB version is fully backwards compatible, also it takes up less space too, and the inbuilt memory cards are alot easier. And the PS3 allows PS2 games online as my PS2 never had the network adapter which you had to buy.

but remember us PS3 users have the yellow light of death :P which my mate jus had. However sony had amazing support, even though his PS3 is out of warranty (only by a week) they still replaced it for him free of charge :D
