The plot:
Ofelia, a young girl uprooted to a remote military outpost, commanded by her new stepfather. Powerless and lonely in a plane of great danger, Ofelia lives out her own dark fable as she confronts monsters both otherworldly and human after she discovers a neglected labyrinth behind the family home. There she meets Pan, a fantastical creature who challenges her with 3 tasks which he claims will reveal her true indentity.

The review
As, I finally purchased the DVD, and set it up, I had brief ideas, of plot outcomes. But directed by Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy, Blade II) I had immediately expected this to be an entertaining film. With two storylines unfolding at the same time. The Spanish resistance, and Pans deep, and dark fable, the twists and turns do not stop. The cinematography brings a great essence into the tale. After the 118 minutes had finished, I had soon decided this would be one of my top films. The confrontations between Pan, and the fairies makes the adult fairytale, one to be rememberred.
My rating: 10/10
A true masterpiece.
