I'm pretty sure I've seen other threads about this, but I want a nice easy program to create and edit code. I will only really use it for xhtml, php and css.
I tried programmers notepad, but I couldn't get on with it. I'm now using EditPlus.
Any better suggestions?

Naah.
Dreamweaver is overrated tbh.
PHP = Zen Studio
Or, PHP Editor 5
(Does all of them :))

Zend Studio 6 / Microsoft Expression Web
Or if I'm feeling pissed at zend I use the latest unstable build of Intype.
PHPDesigner 2008 - it has support for xhtml, css, javascript and whole load of other languages as well as php ofc since it's a php ide. I bought a license a few months ago and i've not used anything since. It's only like £50 so it's not expensive either.

Oh I also use Aptana, cause that's pretty much as pro as they come but there's just one bug that's holding me off using it as my permanent choice of IDE.
edit: looks like there's a workaround for the bug, my IDE of choice is now Aptana.

Does Aptana have that preg_replace bug that freezes Zend?
---------------
My Recommendations:
Zend Studio for Eclipse
phpDesigner 2008
Aptana

Nope, it's got a pretty neat HTML editor too, it's got a good design (unlike phpdesigner)

I like using Zend though (the grey) is just really nice.
Does Aptana hook the HTML editor in with the PHP editor? Or is it like Zend where you have to switch workspaces?

I like Aptana other than the fact that it forces you to use it's pointless project manager. I'd rather manage my own files thank you very much.

At least it doesn't dump a load of folders and a file into your project like Zend.
