Hi, my mum was reading in the newspaper a few weeks ago that a man lost a whopping 26 stone by replacing one of his meals with a bowl of cereal. She didn't think it would work, so I decided to prove her wrong.

This is what I had on my diet:

Breakfast - Cereal (NOT sugar coated) with strawberries/banana on top, semi skimmed milk.

Lunch - Cereal (NOT sugar coated) with strawberries/banana on top, semi skimmed milk.

Dinner - Rice, spaghetti hoops, carrot sticks, two wraps

Snacks - Carrots, bananas, apples, grapes.

Drinks - Orange squash (not pure, as some pure drinks have more additives than squash), water, milk on cereals.

I kept to the diet for around a week.

After two days, I weighed, and realised I had lost a staggering 9 pounds!

Just thought I'd let you know ;)

I would hate that, you basically had the same thing everyday? I also find it hard to believe you lost nine pounds in two days (not calling you a liar or anything).

I didn't eat the same thing EVERY day, as I swapped the cereals and fruits around. I also had a curry on one night and spaghetti bol another day.

Also, the weight dropped off very fast over the first two days, but it became more slow as I went along.

it also depends on your starting weight.
the higher you are, the more you will most likely loose and it will be easier too.
the lower you are, the harder it will be to loose lot.

a lot of weight loss at the beginning is water retention, diet probably doesnt work

^^ thats also a factor.
water retention.

also, its not just diet that matters, its exercise.
cant just lose weight by changing food styles, you have to give a little aswell.

It's the Specail K diet, almost. You're guaranteed to loose weight but I wouldn't advise, my friend went on the Specail K diet and she became ill because of the vitamins she was deprived of.

:O.. they don't tell you that on the advert.

Anyway yeah I don't like these sort of diets because what happens after? You carry on eating like that or go back to your old diet where you bound to put weight back on?

Yeah, that can happen. You can just build it up slowly though, and gradually adjust to a limited diet where you have four small meals a day, this will most likely prevent you from putting all of the weight back on, plus daily excersise.

Sounds good.

I will try it if I ever put on some pounds :p
But not the same things every day.

A lot of this would be excess fluid not actual body fat. He seems to be a quite a heathy eating plan so good luck! :)

My auntie did a diet like this, for two weeks and she lost weight.
(She was large to begin with though)

Yet, a month later her weight had gone higher than it was before the diet, she just piled it straight back on alot easier, because your body isn't used to now having all the vatamins fat etc back in the diet, it stores them causing you to put on weight.
(I saw that on a tv programme the other night:P)

This diet is a flaw; heck all diets are.

My advice for people (and i've suffered with ed's so I certainly know my fair bit about food!), is to look on to look on the back of food packets and make calorie currting decisions.

I'm going to create a new 'tips for dieters' thread later on in the week, that will provide more info; but if anyone has any enquires about food/dieting please PM me!
