As you may of read in previous posts we want to follow the wants of our possible members or users. So we've decided to post a thread where you can submit anything you dislike about current social networks as well as suggest anything you've thought would be good on a social network.

The aim of this is to build a community where we can satisfy and keep entertained a larger amount of members. We see our members as very important as they're the ones who will be there keeping us open by visiting and using our services. So if we don't satisfy or listen to their wants and/or needs then a social network is basically pointless. Wouldn't be very social then would it? :P

How we'd like you to submit your suggestions is either via this thread or by emailing them directly to us. If you have a feature/suggestion that you wish to keep private for any reason then email it instead. The email is;

[email protected]

When submitting your idea please provide a little bit of detail about it if it hasn't been done before. This will allow ourselves and the community to get a better picture of what you mean which makes it easier to discuss if you do post in the thread.

Please note this thread isn't for debating whether Klydo will fail or succeed, it's simply about getting your wants and thoughts about current social networks down so we can work on providing them. You can discuss the site in this thread here (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=473206)!

Hope to hear from you all and look forward to your ideas,

Greg Cooper & Caleb Mingle

New thread much..

I hate friends that create illegible profiles so you don't understand or find the home button. :P
So not toooooo much customisability.

Some creatibility if thats a word would be cool, for instance SkyIsle said you were going to be able to create a virtual enterprise. I either expected more, or they didn't deliver. Something where you can create things with it and sell it on etc etc.

Stop making damn threads you're worse than Simon. I for one don't give a damn about your stupid social networking site, it's got a crap design, owners who aren't nearly old enough to be thinking of anything like that and a stupid name.

In short: I don't care get out and stop trying.

The site won't have skins, the profiles have skins. That's what all the editing is for, you can't change the design of the site.

You can edit EVERYTHING on the profiles :P We've made it possible for you to even change each and every icon on the page by making all layout images CSS based. Other than your uploaded pictures to your gallery and your friend's display pictures everything can be changed :P

We have 2 ways of editing the skins. You can use the CSS and HTML method where you code directly into your dashboard editor or you can use the basic method where you choose sizes, colours and fonts from drop-down lists and input boxes. Therefore making it easier for people who can't code to make their own. You then also have the skins gallery which allow you to select skins made by Klydo and skins made by the more advanced users.

Good idea, would advanced users be able to submit skins to this gallery for the more less skilled users to use?

Klydo

@Luke: Anyone can submit skins to the gallery however they don't appear in the gallery until they have been reviewed by a member of staff. This prevents any pornographic or racially offensive skins getting onto a public area.

@NEW-START: I was thinking about allowing users to select from two types of site browsing called Default and Slimeline, where the header is slimed down even more if you dislike the larger header.

We've also thought about making it possible for users to select preset coloured headers to match their skins. This means if the blue header doesn't match a skin you've made then you can simply select a new colour from our selection. We won't however be allowing users to edit the look of the site for their own useage as that would just cause so many problems with things such as updats and compatiability.

Bojangles
08-04-2008, 10:48 AM
I'd just put a skin changer in the top left of the site :P

Klydo
08-04-2008, 10:51 AM
We're not having a skin changer for the site. We will only have the ability to change the top of the site in the process of making a skin. I just see having a skin changer for the general site as un-needed and out dated. Means a lot of coding for each skin too as there is a lot of CSS colouring.

Here were my ideas from the other thread, which appeared to get overlooked by the numerous little tiffs going on :(.

Customiseable personal homepage (the one when you log in)(as in pick which info goes on there and change colour scheme BBC style)
Some widgets I'd like would be a shoutbox/chat of some kind, a ratings system, a place to do some doodles, some quizzes (with some preset questions - like Bebo in the olden days), a miniblog (a bit like Twitter)
Plus, this is an absolute must for me, being able to set yourself to private and being unable to go on the random bar (which featured in your screenshot).

I do apologise for that, just immature people make it hard for us to keep track. Sorry.

Customiseable personal homepage (the one when you log in)(as in pick which info goes on there and change colour scheme BBC style)
This is a pretty good idea, like deciding whether you want to hear about maybe the latest blogs however you might not want to see the newest members and so on. I like it...

How do you mean by "shoutbox"? As each member already has a default comments system on their profile. Unless you mean for it to be elsewhere. A ratings system would be pretty good so that's a thought. The doodles is probably the hardest bit, we'll need to recruit a flash developer or so to help with things like that but good idea. Quizzes are pretty interesting, they seem popular on places like Bebo although personally I have not used them much and they can be annoying to others when people spam about their new quizzes, however it's a thought still. Miniblog is a definite from me, I love that. It's probably one of the best things around.

Plus, this is an absolute must for me, being able to set yourself to private and being unable to go on the random bar (which featured in your screenshot).
We will be allowing a bit more options when it comes to privacy. Places such as Bebo give you two options which is to have either a public or a friends only profile. We are wanting to offer our users a much higher level of privacy. Being able to decide where they appear and where they don't appear. So you're correct with this one for sure :)

Hire a flash developer...?

Just create a cursor that leaves a trail when mousedown, an r-g-b slider would be reasonably easy same with size, then it gets a bit complicated.. especially the saving an image. good idea! ;0

Yes, why not hire something who can do a much better job than myself or Caleb? I most likely would be able to do it myself if I read up on a bit but I wouldn't be able to make it exactly how a want. Where as if we had a flash developer make it, it would be much better.

On the homepage, maybe a ticker with some of the newest posts in the miniblogs (if you are to have them) would be fun on the homepage? I suppose it'd only be people who set their profile to public, and it'd just be little things like "Watching TV lol" and "Eating macaroni cheese!!" and stuff.

I am so on here when it opens. Also, here or somewhere you mentioned the matching headers to the profiles, which is something I'd like.

By shoutbox I just meant a little widget where people could post little messages, just like comments, but could possibly gain the role of a chat.

I like that idea, would be quite handy. Could select to view all or friends only too and as well for the actual poster. If they want everyone or just friends to see it.

Hmmm, I'm not sure of this own. Shoutboxes aren't the best thing for websites anymore and they'd just make commenting pointless.

Flyxa says;

"Fly-Ex-Ah" not "Flicks-Uh"

Klydo says;

"Kli-Doh" or "Cli-Doh" or "Kli-Do" or "Cli-Do" all depending on your way with words. Much like people say "Ni-Key" instead of just Nike.

I have no idea how you can pronounce a word with a ck at the start, don't think there's an word with "CK" at the start in the English language. Klydo uses a very simple sound kind of like Bebo, two syllables. You're using a word people know "Fly" which automatically makes people use it as a separate word (syllable). So you can not comment on someone else's domain when yours is god damn awful.

Let me give you an insight;

Most social networking sites have the name to do with what they're offering - for instance; myspace is called myspace because the users that sign up have their own space. Facebook is called facebook because it's a site that let's you put your face on your own virtual book of information.

Bebo is an acronym so that doesn't count before you say that.

Klydo
10-04-2008, 07:22 AM
Yes however to get a name which describes the site nowadays is impossible. If you do find one it's most likely 15+ letters long, which just means the visitor gets fed up of typing in large URLs for something which is to be used often. So the way now is to try and get short domains that sound good.

Do you have no idea how social networking sites work? Why are you even trying to open one :S

It's basic knowledge that a social networking site becomes popular from friend invites. If you didn't know this then you're going to find it hard to get your social network anywhere.

Also about the groups we're wanting to launch Networks not Groups, as groups refer to things such as orgasnisations, sports teams, music bands and so on. Where as networks will allow us to slow build up each region/place of education over a long period of time with visitors help :)
