TV presenter Trisha Goddard has revealed that she is fighting breast cancer.
The disease was diagnosed after doctors found a lump during a routine mammogram three weeks ago. A tumour was subsequently removed and lymph node samples were taken for analysis.
She was told on Saturday that cancer had been detected in one of the nodes. She now faces a second operation to remove more samples and will be absent from her Five show for two weeks.
She is currently at home with third husband Peter Gianfancesco and children Billie, 18, and 13-year-old Madison in Norfolk.
Gianfancesco, who has been married to Goddard for ten years, said: "She may possibly need, or choose to have, chemotherapy. We are both exhausted from the stress and worry, but are trying to deal with this one step at a time."
He added: "We hoped that we could handle this in private, but following a number of inquiries from newspapers, we thought it best to put the record straight. We ask that everyone respects our privacy during this difficult time, allowing us to focus on supporting my wife's recovery."
Around 80 staff at her production company Townhouse were informed of the news this morning.
Lets hope her recovery goes well for her :)
