Hi,

I was thinking about buying one of these, in my old computer, to replace the montherboard, so I can have this tripple core processer.

It looks a lot better then Intel's core2duo.

Any thoughs?

My current spec is:
512mb ram
windows vista sp1
2.8ghz amd altherlon 64bit.

Would I need to upgrade the m/b? To support this processer?

AMD are planning to release triple core processors. They'll most likely be crap like the rest of their multi-core processors.

Okay.

If you can afford it, get an Intel Q6600 Quad Core or something, and yes you will need a new motherboard.

Well, I can honestly say I would bet money on it that the Core 2 Duo is better than AMD's tri-core. They just have better architecture.

Dude that's a chipset not a processor. If you plan to game properly then I recommend you buy a proper graphics card not some integrated one, no matter how powerful they claim it to be.

There is a big diffrence between a chipset and a processor.

OK, so the processer is only £50 to buy? And the motherboard is only £60, should I buy?

I don't recommend you get an AMD chipset because at the moment Intel has better processors than AMD.

Intel are crushing AMD with their processors at the moment. I'd even go with a Qaud Core Q6600 as recommended above. They're cheap but a good processor.
