View Full Version : The New Member Approval

Hmm following a thread earlier, there was a idea that i actually think was good.

Before joining this forum there should be a check on the IP, to make sure it is not a member that has been perm banned for hacking or something like that.

I mean earlier there was a thread made by Qampo - Who is most likely Qamp (i think he hacked Immenseman - Correct me if i am wrong)

It could be a hack where the member REQUESTS to join the forum and then there is his name that he wants to join to, then next to it it check's if there is a account from that IP already (This would even stop multipul account spam!)

------------

There should also be a approval for being able to debate in Habbox Feedback. I mean a lot of the new members atm seem to think they run the place (*coughs* T*e*an *coughs*)

Perhaps you should have to be on the forum for at least one month - I mean being serious if you are brand new to the forum how much do you actually know about it?!

------------

Please do not flame me for this thread it is just two idea's and i am NOT the person that first thought them up.

Thanks,

Dom

What about people like me, or other people with Dynamic IP's that keep changing whenever I connect to the network?

You can't ban all their IP's, as some other people with Dynamic IP addresses might end up being banned.

The approval to debate is silly. Everyone has an opinion. Some people who have been on here for 3 days can have more maturity then 2 year old users.

True we could have a suspension from these forums then.

Perhaps if someone is posting ridiclulous post's in here they could get a 'Feedback Caution'

It requires too much effort. Are they really going to review every user that signs up?

Hmm, perhaps a altomatic alert if someone with the same IP signs up?

Once again, some users have the same ip by mistake.

I don't think it's a good idea but what could be practical would be promoting a super moderator to have the ability to moderate new members and they could do a quick check for each member.

Yeh, it could cut out spam accounts, or soon every new member will have to have accounts like:

.;!@dshfdofv@!/.m!,

Hundreds of people join the forum a day and approving them all will be an impossible task :(
It's fine how it is , if we suspect if anything is wrong/the user is dodgy we can check their ip's and ban them if needed.
It'll be pointless in checking everyone's background information for no reason at all.

A Feedback Caution would just be given to people who post against anything management has implemented. It will be misused, I could only see it working if a seperate department was set up with hardly any links to management was incharge of it.

It's too much hassle for such a small problem.

agreed. its fine how it is, spam accounts get banned within a couple of days anyway, so there's no point.

I despise every aspect of this idea, it won't work and is very rude and anti-social. If a member has been perm banned and they make another account, do not for the love of Christ ban them immediately until they actually start doing countless things wrong and become a nuisance. Everyone deserves a second chance, and it makes the management look as if they value their members...

Thats what i was thinking. It would take a heck of a long time to approve all members that register daily.
