A grandmother from Merseyside has applied for planning permission to demolish the home of Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy.
Dot Reid is retaliating against plans to bulldoze her home and 71 others in Kirkby, to make way for Everton's new stadium and a Tesco supermarket.
The 58-year-old said Sir Terry, who lives in a mansion in Hertfordshire, deserved a taste of his own medicine.
She plans to turn the site of the Tesco boss's house into a community garden.
The grandmother lives on Spicer Grove where there are a mix of bungalows and houses, which would be bought under a compulsory purchase order and demolished under the plans.
She helped set up a housing co-operative which was given government money to build the homes, which were finished in 1992.

She said: "These are more than just houses, they are homes.
"I have been living under the threat of losing my home for 18 months now and it is very stressful.
"I want Sir Terry to have a taste of what we have to put up with.
"When we found out about the plans by Tesco and Everton, we thought it was disgusting." Mrs Reid has submitted an application to Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council in Hertfordshire for permission to demolish Sir Terry's 1930s mansion in Cuffley.

I love it when people do things like that, real people power. :P

If his house is demolished it's going to trouble a billionare so much to go build another.

This is sad obviously, but she doesn't stand a chance of winning.

Just a publicity stunt, if she wanted to stand any chance she'd hire some half decent lawyer's, keep away from the press and make sure they don't know and try realistically.

This is all a vain publicity stunt which only pays off 1/100 times, there is always the small chance but even the council know it's a publicity stunt so I doubt they're going to waste their time. The Tesco CEO will only appeal with top lawyer's if it does happen anyway so there's a little chance even if it does work.

There would be no point in getting a lawyer anyway. Firstly, it would probably be a crap lawyer. Secondly, it would cost way too much in legal fees and thirdly, her barrister would probably get trounced by the top barristers hired by the top's lawyers.

When people's houses get knocked down for stuff like that, do they get new ones?

When people's houses get knocked down for stuff like that, do they get new ones?By law they'd get reasonable compensation to what their house is worth when surveyed. Essentially Tesco's/Everton are just forcefully buying house's off people, I'm not sure if they provide money for them to move house, but they provide money to what their house is worth.

I work at Tesco and the store wants to expand, but it's literally next door to some bungalows of relatively minor worth, so they are offering the residents over a million pounds each to sell. Crazy, but in hindsight it's not a loss as the store is the most profitable Metro in the UK. This happens all the time.
