Nope you had red/blue/yellow which are "classic" but of course only have the 8 gym badges and 151 pokémon, then silver/gold came out which had 16 badges but it was all the same style as before graphics-wise and had 251 pokémon I think, then crystal was a mix of gold and silver with a whole one extra pokémon lol
Newer ones are kinda crap yeah although the new bike is pretty cool with bunnyhop lol

Pearl and Diamond are too weird.

R/B/Y were all fantastic but mainly because they were the originals. G/S were also great but I think the one I played most was G. The downside to G/S was the Indigo area was proper restricted with what you could do and where you could go (what I'm saying here may only make sense to me)!

Ruby and Sapphire were pretty cool too but no-where near as good as the originals. I didn't play Emerald but I believe that it was just the equivilent of what Crystal was but with Ruby and Sapphire so it's not as if I missed out on anything.

I'm yet to play Diamond and Pearl but my sister has a DS so I'm considering buying them in the future to see for myself what they're like. I've been told they're good so... I wonder if they're making any more?

EDIT: I completely forgot about the remakes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_FireRed_and_LeafGreen) of red and blue (or in this case, blue was renamed to green). I liked the way that you were able to play the original adventure but with improved graphics and gameplay. :)

My favourite was Yellow because you got Pikachu (My favourite) and he follows you round :D Then is probably Leaf Green/Fire Red. I liked Diamond but it isn't my favourite.

Red and Blue. It was a challenge yet, completing it and getting all 151 pokemon was realistically able. These new ones crystal and pearl for example, it just seems way too hard to complete the pokedex.

Crystal by miles, then Ruby, then firered, from the ones I've played. The originals were ok, but compared to crystal they were pathetic. I think I managed to collect all the unknowns in crystal, took ages

Fire Red and Leaf Green were disappointing in my view.. the fact that the games had come such a long way since the originals just made it a let-down because the originals are such small games, and the only difference was the graphics.

The newest one is Pokémon Diamond/Pearl which I think are great games, I've always loved Pokémon Gold for some reason, it brought back so many memories and I named my Ho-Oh, rainbow lmao!

the whole game was tweaked to be more like the anime
you also got squirtle, bulbasaur and charmander. you encountered the team rocket from the anime also. i cant remember what else tho

it did have some new features, like the sevii islands, and a couple of other things.

the annoying thing is, ive always had the game no one else got. i got blue, everyone got red, i got silver, everyone got gold. no matter, i have all of them bar diamond and pearl on my pc :)
i think my favourite is either crystal, or fire red/leaf green. i really hope they update the gold/silver generation
