Wow! After quickly reading through all the posts, Elegance was the culprit of owning a saw, not as sweet as she looks eh?! You quickly take it off her and thoughtlessly she calls out the following (no, she's not insane. The Doctor will see her now, using your initiative you can tell that it's a system that A=1, B=2, C=3 etc.):
7-9-22-5---20-8-1-20---2-1-3-11!!!
7-9-22-5---20-8-1-20---2-1-3-11---1-14-4---9---23-9-12-12---20-5-12-12---25-15-21
7-9-22-5---20-8-1-20---2-1-3-11---20-8-5---14-5-24-20---9-19---2-18-9-3-11

After saying all three lines, Elegance pulled a very nervous face, wondering what she just did.

Post here to recommend a book for others to read! :)

Traces

Its a series of books by Malcolm Rose about Forensic Investigation. "CSI meets SciFi - a deft, smart mixture of murder, mystery and future mayhem" - Graham Marks

The blurb type thing on the back of the books reads:

"When there's a murder mystery to solve, The Authorities send in their top team, sixteen-year-old Forensic Investigator - Luke Harding has the best detective instincts around and his right-hand robot, MALC, is equipped with lasers and scanners for finding evidence at the toughest of crime scenes. Together, Luke and MALC have the talent to crack any crime."

The books in the series are:

Traces: Framed!
Traces: Lost Bullet
Traces: Roll Call

A Prisoner of Birth - Jeffery Archer ( I highly recommend this (Y)

Danny Cartwright is an uneducated garage mechanic who is falsely accused of murder but found guilty and sentenced to twenty-two years in the highest security prison in the land. He has no thought of fortune or redemption, just revenge – revenge against the four prominent men who were involved in the killing of his best friend, and who were the prosecution’s prime witnesses at his trial. He figures he has twenty-two years to plan his perfect revenge. By a twist of fate, however, fortune becomes a part of Danny’s life when he is released as someone he befriended in prison, the heir to a vast estate. He now has the means to act on his revenge. But what of redemption?

Anything written by Jasper Fforde, if you know classic books as well, or you won't get the jokes. Some of it is alternate universe fantasy, where she can jump into books, the other series is about nursery rhyme characters living in the real world, and is a murder mystery/police book.

Misery by Stephen King
is a FANTASTIC novel. Very memorable. The Movie was also great.

Gods Behaving Badly by Marie Phillips
Wonderful writing, very quirky. The ending was a bit cheesey, but totally worth the read.

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
One of the best dark humour novels I've ever read.

The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett
Another Terry Pratchett, real original read.

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
I have only read the first half where the Brave New World is described, but I found it exetremely interesting and I'm excited to finish it. Aldous Huxley's wife was also really good friens with Winona Ryders parents? Lol.

The Redwall Series was also a good read when I was a kid. Tale of Martin was my favourite.

Looking For Alaska by John Green - Favorite book and wonderful author. It should seriously be a required read to graduate.

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher - Extremely depressing but good. A really unique book.

The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger - I don't know if it's nearly as famous in the UK, but it's pretty much the classic American coming-of-age novel.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald - Another absurdly famous American novel.

Twilight Series, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Inheritance Cycle, Pendragon Adventures, Alex Rider series, Vampire Academy series, and the House of the Night books are all great series.

Any Anthony Horowitz, I've read a lot of them to recommend - Alex Rider, Horowitz Horror (& More Horowitz Horror), The Switch, Groosham Grange (& Return to) & The Diamond Brothers.

The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins - Hunger Games, Catching Fire and recently released ending novel, Mockingjay.

The World War II novels following a Jewish boy who lives in Nazi Germany - Once, Then & Now by Morris Gleitzman are simply overpowering books; easy to read and understand yet meaningful.

The Midnight Library series ghost-written by different authors every time under the name Nick Shadow - (I've read like 8 of them, not sure of theres more); sort of like Goosebumps, Bone Chillers, Shivers (which I also recommend) or any other Children's Horror Books but instead, theres three short stories (like 40 pages each?) per book but its still a quick, easy and great read nevertheless.

"I swallowed in hopes of easing my thirst, but in the stillness of the night the sound I made was huge. As if this were a signal to hear, Naoko stood and glided towards the head of the bed, gown rustling faintly. She knelt on the floor by my pillow, eyes fixed on mine. I stared back at her, but her eyes told me nothing. Strangely transparent, they seemed like windows to a world beyond, but however long I peered into their depths, there was nothing I could see. Our faces were no more than ten inches apart, but she was light years away from me."

Your life is seriously lacking until you read Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami.

Of course the obvious is Harry Potter. They're always a good read.

I read a book a while ago called "Gone" by Michael Grant. I found it quite a good read, and the storyline reminded me a bit of The Simpsons Movie :P. It also has a bit of macabre in it which I personally like.

I mostly read Mystery/Crime books but after hearing a bunch of good reviews about a new fantasy book called Drylor The First Artifact, I decided to give that genre a try. I must admit I was kind of impressed, most self publishing books are boring or just total failures but this one wasn't.

The characters of the book were extremely likeable and I had a lot of fun watching them progress throughout the story. My only complaint was that the book was rather short, but since the story of it was as good as it was I guess the author didn't want to add in any other unnecessary fluff.

That's my book, if anyone wants to take a look at it :)

But one of my favorite books has to be The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. I cried for 2 hours on the flight home from Tenerife in April, because I bought the book on the cruise and was reading it on the flight.

Also, the Twilight saga by Stephenie Meyer! Another set of amazing books!

And finally, Split by a Kiss by Louisa Plaja! I've spoken to the author myself! It's another brilliant book which I've read three times:)

I read "No! I Don't Want to Join a Book Club" by Virgina Ironside. I can really recommend this book. I think it's really funny and written nicely. Maybe it's a little bit focused too much on the age (after 2-3 sentences about the fact that she has no problem with getting old, the readers got the message, but she says it again and again), but besides that it's a nice read.

Mark Haddon - The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time

Dan Brown - The Lost Symbol

Listened to the audiobook of the first one when i was small and read the Dan Brown novel. Both are excellent. I would say that "The Lost Symbol" is one of Dan Browns' best books to date.

I have to do a bit more reading, i've been lazy on that part recently. One of the more recent books that i've read is "The Lovely Bones".

It's a very good book, but don't read it if your looking for a "pick me up" sort of book. It's an excellent read but is also a very sad story.

If I'm honest I didn't think the lovely bones was that good, it was a strange mix between a sort of 'young-adult' book and an adult book. It just didn't wash quite right with me.

I've been reading Great Expectations in school by Dickens which I would really recommend, even if you're not particularly interested in reading classics. I've also been reading the Mr. Ripleybooksby Patricia Highsmith which are really fantastically written and not to heavy. Oh and just started Great Gatsby which is superb so far!

The Back of the Book Reads:
They say it was a storm that ruined Widowsbury. And when it ripped through the town for twelve straight days, it tore open a gate a gate through which escaped all sorts of foul, rotten things. There were such things as vampires. There were such things as ghosts. There were absolutely such things mad scientists who reanimated the dead. The once-perfect little haven became a beacon for everything bad in the world. Nothing and nobody unfamiliar would ever be trusted again, for one could never be sure of what secrets waited under the surface.
There was peace again for a few years after the storm. And then, one grey December morning twelve years to the day, a most troublesome stranger came to town.

You will love this book, but for something lighter I recommend some of these:
Mrs. Piggle- Wiggle
Harry Potter Series
Twilight Series
and for a scare ( or whatever it would be) try a book by Stephen Hawkings, like Gerald's Game or something.

I googled what to read after The Hunger Games trilogy,
And got suggested Divergent,
It is a really good thing to read after them,

The main character reminds me of Midnight; though, and I can't help thinking of her when I read it, in a not sexual, inappropriate way.

The best book I read recently was Passport to Hell by Terry Daniels. It's the true story of an English girl who is wrongly accused of smuggling a million dollars worth of cocaine from brazil to spain and her fight for justice. i like it because of the huge unexpected twist, which is that whilst she is on bail, she is also wrongly accused of terrorism after somebody stashes a bomb and some guns in her house in a totally unrelated incident! there are bizarre twists and turns at every chapter of the book its definitely a must for people who like unlikely but true real life stories. the amazon for anyone whose interested http://www.amazon.co.uk/Passport-To-Hell-Terry-Daniels/dp/184953344X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1356824498&sr=8-1

Primo Levi - If This is A Man

I have to read this for my History class and it's actually an amazing book about the Holocaust. It tells you all this stuff that you can think of but not realize it, because it's actually his story as being anti-fascist in Italy and being sent to Auschwitz.
Mainly if you're interested in History, I'd advise you to read this.

Agreeing with the people above recommending The Perks of Being a Wallflower, but it's definitely not suitable for young'uns. The films is much much much cleaner than the book :o

If you've always though Harry Potter is a book for geeks. You're probably the type of person who will enjoy it ;)

I read that book, it was really tedious and boring in my opinion lol. But, I am very picky when it comes to books.

Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides (same author of the virgin suicides)

Both have dark moments to it but they are cleverly written and my favorites. You are truly engaged in what the main character is thinking. Their urges, decisions, etc.

I'd really recommend Room by Emma Donohughe, really simple book but really touches you. About a boy and his mother who are kept hostage. Cried more than once reading it!
