This has got to be one of the most coolest sounds I have heard on a guitar.

sigur rós are probably the most prominent users of that. at least one of them do it in pretty much all of their songs [linkz (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWR-jJ3v1pk)]. they make really epic music. jonny greenwood does it for pyramid song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXlvmcLsUjw) too. but he basically plays every instrument ever invented, so its no surprise.

Yeah, I think Jimmy Page himself invented it, not the bow but the idea of using the bow on guitar. It sounds really cool.

actually, he didn't. he actually even admits to stealing it from eddie phillips (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Phillips), page is the one who's most well known for it though.

yarr, it's a very common misconception. it's hard to say where any guitar playing method came from really.
