Masahiro Sakurai said he was trying to get voice chat into Brawl but Nintendo wouldnt allow it as they want the Wii to be family orientated and dont want people to be bullied etc.

Yeah if they added it they'd probably put turn on or off in the settings or something. They'll probably end up adding voice chat since they can make more money selling the microphones and headsets etc.
