View Full Version : What really happen's to the KFC chickens.

KFC suppliers cram birds into huge waste-filled factories, breed and drug them to grow so large that they can’t even walk, and often break their wings and legs. At slaughter, the birds’ throats are slit and they are dropped into tanks of scalding-hot water—often while they are still conscious. It would be illegal for KFC to abuse dogs, cats, pigs, or cows in these ways.
KFC’s own animal welfare advisors have asked the company to take steps to eliminate these abuses, but KFC refuses to do so. Many advisors have now resigned in frustration.

As long as i can eat it i don't care where it came from. Humans are the dominant species therefore we eat everything else.
As i've said before, when chickens rule they can do what they like but for the time being we humans make the decisions

its bad, but its nothing new & kfc r not the only ones. when i eat meat, i dont think of whats happened to it or wot the animal went through because otherwise i wouldnt eat any meat as we consumers dont really know what goes on behind the scenes, and if we do, there is not much we can do about it.

I'm not saying in the slightest that eating meat is wrong. It's about the way they have killed the chickens. if they could do it so it's fair for the chickens like most companys do, then there wouldent be a complaint
chickens can feel pain too just like we can but yet they dont have a voice

everyone is aware of it all, but people still have and will continue to buy the food products because at the end of the end, aslong as its tasty, thats all people care about. yes, your probably thinking its still wrong as it is, but unless the governments all around the world start to tighten where places like kfc get their meat from, and what happens to these animals, nothing will change imo.

Dogs and cats are more pet like and family friendly.
I don't see many people having chickens walk around their house.
So yes, I would say dogs and cats are more important than chickens.

It's called factory farming, and it happens with most animals (unless free range is stated.
KFC suppliers cram birds into huge waste-filled factories, breed and drug them to grow so large that they can’t even walk, and often break their wings and legs. At slaughter, the birds’ throats are slit and they are dropped into tanks of scalding-hot water—often while they are still conscious. To be honest, the Kentucky Fried Cruelty site is being a bit discusting with the images of dead, cartoon chickens bleeding everywhere so they're not really any better, but I can see their point. Might also explain why KFC makes me vomit, in the most horrible way possible.

They can't really solve this either, if they decided to go free-range, it'll take months before the first batch come through and might cost alot to make the change over, unless they go with a free-range farm temporarily. Although, with all the money they make it won't exactly be alot...
Niko Bellic
24-04-2008, 11:32 PM
It won't exactly be "fast food" either if they went free range. It would cost like £7 for a bloomin' burger.
GommeInc
24-04-2008, 11:33 PM
Indeed, and free-range farms take up alot of space which would cost them even more. Though, the chicken might taste nicer if they did go free-range... Not a fan :P

I'm loving the whole idea that this is something which the majority of us are obvlivious to.
Battery farming is being made extinct by 2012 in the UK, did we know that?
Voters in California will have a chance to vote on animal welfare, this being one of the issues, did we know about that?
Who needs PETA, the world gets things done, just slower than they want. If it was up to them we'd be overpopulated by animals as well as humans. Brilliant, thanks for the consideration PETA! :)

Stop with this hippy ********.
I agree that it's harsh how they treat the birds, but this campaign has been going for a long time now and has been posted countless times on this forum. I used to strongly agree with this campaign until I found out the stuff about peta which is just as shocking as what we're talking about here and the fact there is nothing I/we can do. Anyway, KFC will do nothing as at the end of the day, nowhere near enough people will EVER boycott the restaurant.
Also, the guy who said they should be closed down for what they do, the video footage, etc is taken from factories in foreign countries so I don't think they could go to court for it.

This is pretty well known. It doesn't happen to just chickens but to everything else. It is the only way the human population can continue to grow. If we stuck to normal methods, there would be no way the earth can handle billions of people.

I can't be bothered to make a long post about my veiws on this subject as it comes up wayyy too much, atleast those chickens are going to be eaten and such unlike the animals killed pointlessly by the organisation who made the videos and site.
www.petakillsanimals.com
and as someone mentioned above (I think it was Gomme) PETA's videos aren't 'under cover' as they say, many of them are staged for the purpose of putting people off meat, fur, wool and things like that, while PETA 'activists' film and direct them.
I'm all for people standing up for animal rights, being vegan myself, but I wish people would do some research before we get all the 'omg saev da animalz' crap.

Woah, the amount of misguided opnions, heavely biased media and propaganda and the sheer idiocy of people in this thread is really unbearable.
Earlier in this thread someone mentioned that chicken were basically picked up by their legs, dropped into a deep frier and served to you. That is simply not true. KFC have done a few shonky things in the past, and every few months or so this website pops up (Yes - it's nothing new) but they have improved their standards (well here at least) and I haven't had a problem with their food before, except for the occasional very bony piece of chicken.
Also to the ethical issues of eating chickens - it's in our nature, we're the higher species and we do what we must to survive.
I've only known PETA to take nude photos of celebrities and stick them on website ads.
Asher
26-04-2008, 09:56 AM
How do you know they have improved their standards? KFC are hardly going to publicise their methods of killing their chickens, even though everyone knows they just stuff a bunch of chickens in some rundown warehouse.
and what does shonky mean? lol

Saying that being at the top of the food chain entitles us to do anything is like saying politicians have the right to do whatever they want with the public or celebrities have the right to do whatever they want with normal people. Technically we aren't at the top because we're constantly being eaten and killed by microorganisms and diseases which we're too "stupid" to be able to vaccinate.
