Rofl, good luck and all.

But they mean nothing?

Ok so I got like top marks on all of em, but it doesn't mean anything. It determines your sets in your 10 ;P

SATs aren't like GCSEs :S You don't do some early, they're to get your level at the end of each key stage and tell how good the school is.

I got something like a 4a in shakespear in mock sats. I doubt i'll do much better unless the question is really easy. The English dept think that this years writing task will be on persuasion. :(

SATs determine:
1. How well teachers are performing.
2. Probably what sets you'll be in for GCSE

Did it last year, for Shakespeare I had to do Richard III. Good luck.

EDIT: You do Shakespeare because it's Culture, was told that last year and now doing Romeo and Juliet in GCSE

Im in a grammar school and we are predicted to get a medium level 7 (7B) in all SATS, english maths and science. Im good at English and Maths but because our science teacher has never been here and we always get stuck with some sports cover teacher who doesn't know anything about science, I don't think I am going to do well (well, at least not a medium level 7).

I know how that feels, in year 8 we had a crap science teacher, and all I was getting was like level 5s but then she thankfully left and we got our old teacher back and now I'm level 7. In maths I'm 8C and my targets 8B, in english I dont even have a clue, we've changed teachers constantly this year and now we have some fat woman that looks like katy freeman (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ld2m1y8jSnE).

You'll breeze through it if you revise...

I did and got 8, 7, 7 but it depends if it's got harder, easier since I did them... But seeing what's on the news these days it seems they get easier and easier :)

I think everyone has maths tomorrow, then english wednesday and thursday, and science friday.

Does anyone know when we get our sats results?

We get science and maths just before we finish I think in july, and we get our english through the post in august.

For me, I got Maths and Science before the end of the school year during class. English results in September during class.

Do SATs determine anything except what set you are going to be in next year?

They are significant to the school as they form part of the Fisher Family Trust predictions for GCSE, and the school will get scrutinised on the outcome of the GCSE results versus the predicted results from the SATs (something called added value).

That Fisher Family Trust thing says I'm going to get an A in English GCSE but I probably won't... my coursework is an A but in exams I get B/C.

Totally right man! Before our first test the head came up to me in particular and said to me that my level mattered to him as much as it did to me :eusa_wall

Sometimes being clever ain't so good.

How can you say that, of course it's good - I love it :P

And that shouln't worry you or anything, cos it means he knows you'll do well and if you do somehow mess up it's not like he's going to kill you.
