What is the point in scripting?

Lets try to not start an argument but Playing habbo is a totally different thing, their is no need for scripting a perfectly good program. It might sometimes be a little fun to clone people or get attention by copying what other people say but thats just about it. Pointless realy we should leave habbo just the way it is instead of spoiling it with scripts. Also can I just point out that puregamer double posted (sshhh) :Olol xD

But I don't really see where it's ruining Habbo.. if anything it makes people realize that it's a lot more then just pointing and clicking. Every single room I've been in with posters in the black I've seen at LEAST one or two people say "woow" or something. Then there's those massive clones, they are sorta pointless but can be useful and it also has people often cracking up.

i dont wanna hefty lay into you cause ur new and all, but people do it because they know they're not allowed to. A biscuit tastes so much better when you know you're not allowed it. A poster looks so much better when it's somewhere it's not allowed to be.

No, some live a tangible existence, not dominated by playing Habbo and 'breaking the rules' as it were.

When I used to do proper scripting I did it privately (so I didn't get banned). It was something I did when no-one was online or when I was bored - I didn't harm anyone.

Well i always enjoyed scripting, its quite fun, esspecially at night when no-one is on and the only games that are on are kick the ugliest.I only ever used packet injectors, i liked them since it showed me an insight to code. Its a pretty big acheivement to Inject a packet into the client which will edit change the appearance of something.For example, one i learnt the other day. The end of the code for a mode hatch that is open is AO and for closed is AP, if i edit that packet to change it to Ao, then the hatch will appear open but will act as if it is closed, so you cannot pass through. Its pretty funny watching people try to get through :)

Wow, that comment is untrue in many ways. First of all, it impresses alot of people, its safetyrangers like you who don't appreciate how much they actually help the hotel. It is also no more of a waste of time as it is playing on habbo. Don't say people do not have a life, because they probably like Habbo too, but in a different way.

Scripting does have a point though, it helps prove to people that there are vulnerabilities on-line. Even with the protection of security applications and tight measurements in place, it shows a system can be turned around. Scripting only affects people who aim to make a consistent point that it is "annoying them".

Hands down, it doesn't really affect you at all.

You could say that it's not scripting, it's just BETA-proofing the client. You search for holes in scripts if you're in BETA testing and Habbo has its own crew to do that. The scripters are a good team when you think about it, they should actually be officially employed by Habbo for spotting such errors in release. That's what I think though, others have the stereotype that all scripters have no lives and no careers.

Funnily enough, I know a infamous scripter who has made a name for himself in coding clients for other games, because he's honed his skills in Habbo and is now using them to profit by producing for other games. Does that make him someone with no life, and no career? No, he's actually quite smart.

They think outside the box, and they think in ways many people never would, this is helpful for later in life.

Well, some scripts can be useful for them. Say there's a script that makes the person using it automatically sit on the chair, they'd use it for fallin furni, or if there was a script where if you have rights in a room, when you enter it, everyone got kicked, that'll be good for kick wars etc. And people do it to annoy people like error photo's or auto reload room (so if the doorbell rings and you don't let them in, it'll keep on coming)

The reason the top scripters script (As in the 16-20year-old computer programmers):

Is that they want a testing ground for practicing their art i.e. programming - I mean if you can crack one of the most visited MMORPG games on the internet you know you're doing pretty well and Habbo constantly gives then new challenges to overcome.


The reason I script:

My reason for scripting is to
1.) Test my Programming and
2.) Test my website making ability

The reason I chose Habbo is that it's very exploitable and making a scripting site gets a lot of page views.

This means Habbo's probably one of the best choices for this kind of Hobby - and although I spend quite alot of time on it, it IS a Hobby - My life is acctually ususally quite busy the time I spend on scripting and website design is tiny compaired to my social life and work so... yeah... >_>
