My new laptop has shut it's self down twice recently, a blue screen pops up and says something 'unexpected has happened' and it then just restarts...
It has done this twice today
Any ideas?

could mean that it's getting old or currupted windows copy.

Is that the only thing it says? Do you know what you were doing prior to both incidents? Is all your software up to date?

I believe everything is up to date, and I have downloaded one album via torrent....

IF it is windows, try re-installing windows. it would be a idea to tell us the code that was under it.

It only flashed up then left, and it's Windows Vista, I don't have a clue about re-installing? lol

Control Panel\System and Maintenance\System
start up and recovery
settings
untick atuo restart
then tell us the code when it happens again.

IF it happens again. I remember getting my Windows XP laptop a few years ago. Within the first 3 weeks I had about 10 instances of blue-screens followed by restarts, but was fine from then on.

It a risk you gotta take to get it fix.
Maybe save everything, then open alot of programs and try and make it get blue screen of death? xD

Is it a dell by any chance? I bought a new one with my christmas money and had the blue screen about 4 times in one day, then it wouldn't turn on. Turned out I had a faulty motherboard and had to get it repaired.

It has carried on and done it a couple more times recently.
It says something about uninstalling new software or hardware and also mentioned BIOS!?
Doesn't stay on the screen for long, so just trying to read what I can in that time.

System restore to a previous date? Try it on Safe mode.

As you probably read in the other thread, don't know a great deal about computers.
