I'm pretty sure that Habbox and other fansites manage to make profit off it.

forums? donations? sponsers? loads.
the point is to bring people up-to-date with everything that has happened with Habbo whilst running some good music for people and competitions. Of course, lots more.
You'll also get popular if you're staff for it.

The REAL meaning is to be better than other fansites.

Ok why are you copying my idea of "what is the point" go make your own ideas. And the point of fan sites is so they can help us out with rare values, news etc. Also a successful fansite owner will also be quite well known on habbo and quite a lot of people like to be well known. For REALY successful fansites (habbox for example) they can sell things like VIP so they will also make money out of it.

To be in competition with other fansites
To promote Habbo
To make money from VIP / Donations / Advertisements
Most importantly, to get enjoyment out of creating one (Which is what I get)

Yeh i would of thought this thread is quite obvious...

VIP (Loads of people have it on here)
Advertisements (Loads of people click them on here)
Donations

----

Come off it, there is so many ways its untrue! People do if because they like a game and to make MONEY!

No one makes fansites for money, I can tell you that now and anyone who trys fails, ALTHOUGH if you know the right people and work hard you can make profit, Trust me i know :]
But using the money on stupid things like a xbox game with come and bite you back maybe sever bills go large or something you always need a backup.

Some people just enjoy making a fansite which supports Habbo, some people do it for profit and some people do it to get popular.

Most of the time it isn't to make money off mugs like me. (Habbox Vip) It's just that Habbox is lucky enough to be the main source for rare values and is most probably the most useful fansite for habbo.

But it's to be superior to other people.
"Oh, I own a fansite and you don't." or "My fansite has more members than yours."
And ofcourse to help out other habbos, although the new and not as well known ones don't contribute much to this, as there are much better features on more well known ones.
(Which are well known for a reason)

I'm guessing that a few people do it to learn the ropes, and want something to start on?

But asking this question is like asking what is the point on habbo?
Why spend, so long, trading to make a good looking room. Or pissing your mum off by buying credits.

What's the point?

Habbo Fansites are a waste of time to be perfectly honest. If your making a site and spending money on it, make it about something good not a load of animated pixels! :)
